Enhanced Brightness and Display Technology
One of the most anticipated upgrades in the iPhone 16 series is the improvement in screen brightness. Reports indicate that the iPhone 16 Pro models will feature a 20% increase in brightness compared to their predecessors. This translates to a typical SDR (Standard Dynamic Range) brightness of up to 1,200 nits, up from the 1,000 nits found in the iPhone 15 Pro. The peak HDR (High Dynamic Range) brightness is expected to remain at 1,600 nits.
The increased brightness will be achieved through the adoption of new Micro-Lens Array (MLA) OLED displays. This technology, previously used in high-end Samsung and LG devices, allows for improved brightness and reduced power consumption. Additionally, it enhances battery life, making the iPhone 16 series more efficient and user-friendly.
Under-Display Face ID and Slimmer Bezels
Another innovative feature rumored for the iPhone 16 Pro models is the integration of under-display Face ID components. This advancement will allow Apple to offer a more seamless and uninterrupted display experience, removing the need for a visible notch or Dynamic Island, which has been a distinctive but divisive design element in recent iPhones.

The iPhone 16 Pro models are also expected to sport thinner bezels, thanks to the implementation of Border Reduction Structure (BRS) technology. This will provide a larger screen area without increasing the overall size of the device.
Design and Button Changes
Design-wise, the iPhone 16 series will see some changes, particularly in the Pro models. The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are anticipated to be slightly taller and wider than their predecessors. The rear camera layout is expected to maintain its square bump, housing three lenses, but the Pro models will adopt a new capacitive Capture Button, alongside the existing power, volume, and Action buttons.
