Fresh leaks on Friday gave us a bit more of an idea about Apple’s forthcoming monster tablet, the iPad Pro. According to the latest report coming out of Taiwan, the Cupertino giant is narrowing in on Samsung and Sharp to manufacture display panels for the upcoming tablet.
The next-gen. iPad will reportedly sport a 12.9-inch screen with a 2732 x 2048 resolution amounting to a pixel density of 264 ppi. The report further said that Sharp will be primarily responsible to supply displays while the Korean giant Samsung will be used as back up, in case things don’t turn out as planned.
In addition, the report also mentions that Sharp is expected to start supplying display panels by September, implying that we can expect the monster tab’s debut in late Q3 or early Q4 this year. Another detail in the report worth mentioning here is that LG was also one of the contenders to supply displays for the upcoming iPad Pro, though the Korean supplier came in last because of yield issues.
Earlier reports also indicated that the upcoming iPad Pro will reportedly feature both iOS and OS X El Capitan, leading to speculations that the upcoming tablet would be a hybrid device. Other rumored specs on the iPad Pro include the A9 chipset, a new stylus, USB Type-C port along with the new Force Touch technology now present in the Apple Watch. Another rumored feature to be included in the forthcoming iPad is multi-user log-in support, which essentially allows individual users to have their unique set of apps and data, similar to Windows-based PCs.
