Microsoft’s much talked about Project Scorpio has finally culminated into a product that has come to be known as the Xbox One X. Introduced at the E3 event earlier today, the new Xbox One X is a real beast that belies its rather bland looks.
The exterior can piss off many for its boxy shape with only a slight overhang in the front to break the monotony. That said, the real appeal of the console is its high-octane internal specs that have earned it the title of being the most powerful on the planet right now.
The console owes that to its 8-core 2.3GHz custom AMD CPU and a 6 teraflop GPU clocked at 1.17 GHz, all mated to a 12 GB GDDR5 video RAM. With that much of horsepower under its disposal, the Xbox One X sure can play compatible games at 4K resolutions and at 60 fps with élan. Native storage is also a comfortable 1 TB.
Apart from the hard specs, the other aspect where the new Xbox One X has the PS4 Pro covered is its 4K UHD Blu-ray playback. In contrast, the PS4 Pro makes do with only a Blu-ray/DVD drive. Microsoft is claiming the video output will be excellent even if you don’t have a 4K TV given its supersampling capability.

Such high-end specifications also lead to the generation of considerable heat. That, in turn, is taken care of with a liquid-cooled vapor chamber, first time on any console but something that is quite common on high end PCs.
Another nice aspect of the new Xbox One X is that it will have backward compatibility with all titles or accessories starting from Xbox One. Some of the famous games with backward compatibility are Alan Wake, Dead Space, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Fallout 3 / Fallout New Vegas, Red Dead Redemption, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. While that is great news as you won’t have to invest in building a new ecosystem around the new console, there also are a slew of new gaming titles in the making that would debut soon. That includes the Forza Motorsport 7 coming on October 3, Metro: Exodus, Fallout, and Half-Life or the new Assassin’s Creed: Origins that is set in Egypt.
Among the other titles set to debut on the Xbox One X, the platform includes State of Decay 2 and Deep Rock Galactic. That is not all as there also is the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds that again will be exclusive to the console. Even the Minecraft will get free 4K update and new look with super duper graphic pack.

The new titles will also be compatible with the older Xbox One series of consoles. So the titles can still be played on the Xbox One and One S though things wouldn’t be as butter smooth as on the One X.
Coming to its price, the One X will set one back 9 and is all set to make its debut on November 7.
