You can make an AI cover in a public figure’s voice only when you have that person’s authorization for the voice use and have checked the cover and distribution terms that apply. A tool offering voice conversion or cloning does not establish that a particular public figure’s voice is available or authorized. If you cannot confirm permission, use a voice you have rights to use instead.
What You Need Permission To Use
There are two separate questions: whether you may imitate the person’s voice, and whether you may use the song in a cover. Make The Cover In A Permission-First Workflow
- Confirm authorization. Get permission that covers the intended voice imitation and use. Keep a record of what was authorized and where you may share the result. If you cannot verify authorization, choose a non-identifying or otherwise authorized voice.
- Check the song rights and destination rules. A voice permission does not itself clear the song. Confirm the applicable cover and distribution requirements, and check the destination platform’s current policies before uploading.
- Choose a tool based on the work you need. For a cover workflow with listed melody, timing, phrasing and lyric preservation, TwoShot describes those capabilities.
