About
CheapShark is a free service for finding and comparing prices on digital PC game downloads across stores. Users can search for games, filter deals, and browse listings by store. CheapShark says its pricing data includes Steam, GreenManGaming, GOG, and GamersGate, with prices generally updated once per hour. Deal ratings factor in game age, discount size, Metacritic rating, and how recent a deal is. Users can check the lowest price a game has appeared for on CheapShark and set email alerts when a game's price changes. CheapShark also hosts frequent game giveaways and lists third-party apps that use its API, including Android and iOS apps. The service began in 2012. CheapShark says listed stores must have direct relationships with the publishers and developers whose games they sell. Some stores pay CheapShark a percentage when a user buys through its links. It does not guarantee that listed prices are accurate or that deals remain available.
Who it is for
It suits PC game shoppers comparing digital download deals across stores, especially those who want price history or email alerts. Developers can also consider its API if building an app that uses game price data.
