Xiaomi Redmi 3S will be available starting August 17, costs INR 6,999

Xiaomi announced that the cheaper variant of Redmi 3S Prime dubbed Remi 3S will go on sale at 12 pm on August 17. The sale will take place on both – company’s official website Mi.com as well as an e-commerce website Flipkart. Xiaomi’s India Head, Manu Jain, said: “We listen very closely to our fans. We realize that we were consistently getting feedback to improve on two key things – flash sales and product launch timings for India.

“I am very happy that we have been able to make a marked improvement on both these fronts,” he added.

Xiaomi’s Redmi 3S Prime costs INR 8,999, which is a bit higher than its cheaper counterpart – Redmi 3S that ahs a price tag of INR 6,999. Despite these prices, that are no big differences to be identified when it comes to comparing both the smartphones.

However, Redmi 3S Primes come with 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM, Redmi 3S is al about a bit lower 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. In addition, the Redmi 3S Prime also has a fingerprint sensor on the back, which is missing on the Redmi 3S.

The Xiaomi Redmi 3S has 5.0 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display, sporting 720p HD resolution as well as support for multitouch. The smartphone runs company’s MIUI 8 based Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system out of the box. The device is powered by 1.3GHz Octa-core Qualcomm MSM8937 Snapdragon 430 processor and Adreno 505 GPU.

The dual-SIM Redmi 3S’s 16GB internal storage is expandable up to 256GB microSD card. However, the device has no dedicated SD card slot. Instead of that, SIM 2 slot comes handy for storage expansion.

As far as camera offerings are concerned, the Redmi 3S sports a 13-megapixel primary camera on the back with f/2.0 aperture and phase detection autofocus, which comes accompanied by a LED flash. The camera deals with several modes and features such as geo-tagging, touch focus, face/smile detection, HDR, and panorama, etc.

The camera is capable of recording videos with a quality of 1080p at 30 frames per second. The Redmi 3S also comes with a 4100 mAh 5-megapixel front-facing camera. With all standard connectivity options, the smartphone features a non-removable Li-Ion battery.
