OnePlus 5 official image, specs, price and release date

Finally OnePlus 5 official image has been surfaced online. This time, we are getting to see the top rear end of the device, which depicts the dual rear camera setup along with the antenna bands and of course the sleek lines.

The uncanny resemblance with iPhone 7 Plus, as many an expert have pointed out, is all too evident as well. Maybe that prompted the Chinese start-up to tweet another image of its upcoming phone, this time revealing the front of the device.

While overall the upcoming handset looks sleek and stylish, that it does share a lot of similarity with the bigger iPhone 7. Perhaps OnePlus aims to make up for that with its blockbuster specs, which includes a 2.35 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 835 chip working in tandem with an 8 GB RAM. Native storage is touted to be 128 GB though there could be a 64 GB variant as well.

The front would be made up of a full HD AMOLED panel though the exact size remains a mystery as yet. A 3.5mm headphone jack is also almost a certainty, as is a USB Type-C port. Running the entire show will be the company’s proprietary Oxygen OS, which again is based on the latest Android 7.1 Nougat.

As for the rear cam, it is already known OnePlus has worked with DxO to come up with better camera performance. There are no details of the exact specification of the lens used though one of them is believed to be of 16-megapixel dual cameras.

The price to be paid for all the goodies mentioned above is expected to be around $500. A Finnish site too had mentioned the price to be in the vicinity of 550 Euros. That sure is higher than the around $439 that the OnePlus 3T cost when it was launched last year. This can be explained by the fact that the company intends to keep both in the reckoning, hence the higher pricing of the OnePlus 5.

Fortunately, the official release date of what inarguably is one of the most anticipated devices of the time is June 20, which means not too many days’ waiting to endure until we get to see the thin in flesh.
