There could finally be a Game of Thrones themed video game being developed at Bethesda, as has been revealed by a leaked listing at Target

A video game based on the popular TV series Game of Thrones seems a distinct possibility after all. This has been confirmed, at least sort off, on the back of the chance discovery of a Target listing carrying the words ‘Bethesda: Game of Thrones’. The rest of the page is a complete blank, which again has led many to conclude it could be a chance leak after all.

So what is evident right away is that a video game based on ‘Game of Thrones’ could be coming our way anytime from now. Further, the studio handling the project is none other than Bethesda. And if anyone is harboring any doubt about Bethesda’s ability to handle the prestigious project, well, it has a few other titles such as the ‘Fallout’ series or the ‘Elder Scrolls’ to its credit. For the uninitiated, the latter too is as replete with fire breathing dragon, factional wars and classy sword actions as the Game of Thrones.

In fact, Bethesda’s version of the popular TV series is being keenly awaited given that almost all major attempts at it so far have been forgettable experiences. Of course, there was the Skyrim that had us covered thoroughly but that was more than half a decade ago, or six years to be precise. Then there has been a Telltale’s version of the game as well that kept us enthralled for a while but that was never a huge hit.

All of this has led many to bet big on the Bethesda’s version though there is no confirmation from any quarters if the studio is indeed in developing video game out of the Game of Thrones series. Not surprisingly, Target has gone mum on the issues, and so have HBO.

Interestingly, this has brought some nice positive light on the TV series post the infamous hacking episode at HBO. The hackers have also ripped off several episodes of the series and had even released them online.
