Asus has announced the launch of its new Republic of Gamers smartphone in India. The ROG branded phones which are targeted squarely at the gaming crowd comes with console-like specs and features, thereby enabling them to support even high-end games with ease.

Powering the phone is the latest Snapdragon 845 chipset along with Adreno 630 GPU to take care of graphics files. Then there is 8 GB memory as well along with 128 GB of storage, which however is non-expandable. Keeping the heat at bay is a 3D vapor-chamber cooling system, which again is a world’s first. Then there is the AeroActive Cooling case as well that comes free with the ROG phone.

Among its other gaming, specific enhancements include a second side-mounted USB Type-C port so that the phone can be charged even while playing. Then there are Air Trigger ultrasonic sensor as well, which means the edges of the phone can also double up as extra controls should the game so require.

Upfront, its a 6-inch AMOLED display dominating the looks. The display is stunning too, what with the 1080 x 2160 pixel HD+ resolution that it offers which makes for a pixel density of 402ppi. Further, the display comes with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and 90Hz refresh rate, the latter being extremely important to ensure minimal eye fatigue. The display also benefits from a layer of Gorilla Glass 6 for added strength while the rear too is made of the same material for durability.

Also, it being a phone, after all, the ROG also comes with excellent optical abilities as well. That includes dual rear cameras with the primary sensor being of 12 megapixels having a 120-degree field of view and f/1.7 aperture. Complementing the primary sensor is an 8-megapixel secondary lens of f/2.0 aperture. Then there is an 8-megapixel front shooter too for selfies.

A 4000 mAh battery would be keeping the lights on. The phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo with ROG UI running on top. The phone also has dual front firing stereo speakers which are so important for a realistic experience in mobile gaming.

Accompanying the ROG phone are a set of accessories designed to enhance the game playing experience. Those inlcudes a TwinView Dock which allows for dual-screen gaming and comes with a quad-speaker, two physical trigger buttons, an additional 6,000 mAh battery along with a cooling feature as well.

A Gamevice controller with WiGig Dock is there too, complete with dual analog joysticks, dual triggers/bumpers, as well as a D-pad. There also is the Mobile Desktop Dock as well which basically allows users to cast the content of the screen on to a 4K display.
