The Pixel 3A and Pixel 3A XL leaks have picked up the pace, which means a launch could be just around the corner. In fact, experts have already pegged that to happen on May 7 itself which is when Google’s annual I/O 2019 event gets underway. Google too has stated they will have new hardware announcements to make during the event, which makes the new budget Pixels to qualify for the launch right away.
The retail packaging of the new Pixel 3a have already been leaked and a few such packs have also been spotted with retailers like Best Buy. That makes it almost a surety of the phone is available to buy very soon followed by the official launch.
Meanwhile, the latest leaks along with that of the phone’s retail box has also confirmed several of the specs and features that have been known so far via rumors and speculations. That includes 1080p displays and downward firing speakers on both the handsets. That apart, the other common aspect with the two phones is that they will come with headphone jacks and will be made of plastic. The Phones will run Android 9 Pie right out of the box.
The base storage is going to start at 64 GB though there will also be a 128 GB model as well. As for the front display, the Pixel 3a will have a 5.6-inch screen while the bigger Pixel 3a XL is going to be a 6-inches.
Unfortunately, the looks aren’t anything to turn heads around, what with the dated design having thick upper and lower bezels while those along the sides are thin strips at best but is still quite noticeable.
Other aspects of the phone that are still being rumored given the lack of any confirmation include its Snapdragon 670 chipset and a 4 GB RAM. Plus there also are reports of a 3000mAh and 3700mAh battery for the 3a and 3a XL respectively. Both phones will come with support for Fast Charging tech which is tipped to provide for 7 hours of usage in just 15 mins of charging.
However, one of the biggest positive with the new budget Pixel range is their camera, which is expected to be inherited directly from their flagship siblings. Both phones will sport the 12.2 mp dual pixel camera at the rear with support for Night Mode, the same that has gone for critical acclaim on the flagship Pixel device. Plus, the phones will also come with portrait mode and Motion Auto Focus as well.
As for its price, the base Pixel 3a will start at $399 while the Pixel 3a XL will have a base price of $479. Both prices mentioned applying to the 64 GB storage variants.
