Copyright And Platform Disclosure In 2026
The U.S. Copyright Office says material generated entirely by AI is not copyrightable, a prompt alone does not make someone the author, and protection can cover the human-authored parts of a mixed work. An application containing more than a minimal amount of AI-generated material must disclose that material and describe the human contribution. Spotify said on September 25, 2025 that vocal impersonation is allowed only when the impersonated artist authorizes it. It also announced a spam filter for mass uploads and duplicates and support for DDEX AI disclosures in credits. On August 11, 2026, Spotify announced an “AI Persona” badge for artist identities that may be AI-generated. Spotify’s 2025 policy announcement and its AI Persona badge announcement describe those measures.

YouTube renamed its “repetitious content” monetization rule to the “inauthentic content” policy in 2025. The policy targets mass-produced, repetitive or template-based uploads, rather than AI use by itself. YouTube also requires a label for realistic altered or synthetic content that could be mistaken for a real person’s performance. How To Build A Fair-Pay Release Workflow
- Write a contribution sheet. List the human-written melody, lyrics, instrumental performance, edits, mix and master. Mark every generated passage and retain dated project files.
- Set payment terms before production. Put each collaborator’s split, credit, approval right and payout schedule in writing. If you use LANDR’s split feature, confirm that its current terms match your agreement.
- Obtain consent for identity and source material. Get permission for a recognizable voice or likeness. For covers, samples or borrowed recordings, confirm the required permissions and the AI service’s terms; the available facts do not establish a blanket clearance.
- Choose a documented AI step. A useful brief might read: “Generate a 90-second instrumental sketch, keep the human-written chorus unchanged, export separate stems, and log which sections were generated.” Ask the vendor whether it supports that exact workflow before relying on it.

- Check the destination’s current rules. Confirm distributor, streaming and video-platform requirements immediately before upload. Policies can address impersonation, duplicates, spam, disclosure and monetization separately.
- Review the first payout. Match statements to the agreed splits, save invoices and credits, and record any opt-in or opt-out decision so the artist can audit the release later.

Its page says artists can earn monthly when AI models train on their music and can opt in or out at any time. It also states that artists keep 100% of earnings and can set royalty splits so collaborators are paid automatically on every payout.
For a band or producer, use a contribution sheet and agree the split before delivery, then compare the written agreement with LANDR’s current terms. The page lists pricing from $2 per month; check what that entry price includes, which stores are covered and how AI-training statements are reported before subscribing.

Ask how an artist’s track is identified in statements and how withdrawals, edits or AI-assisted tracks are handled.

Consent, Credits And Limits To The Evidence
Do not imitate a real singer’s voice without that artist’s authorization. Label realistic synthetic performances when a platform requires it, and obtain permission for any collaborator’s voice, likeness, recording or sample. A platform’s permission to upload a file does not establish that every underlying right has been cleared.
The published facts establish selected payment, licensing and disclosure statements, not a universal royalty rate for AI music or guaranteed acceptance by every store. Recheck each vendor’s current terms, your collaborators’ agreement and the destination platform’s rules when the finished track, credits and release date are known.
