Sony unveils Xperia C5 Ultra and M5 powered by Octa-core SoCs and 13MP camera

Sony has unveiled its latest camera focused smartphones – the Xperia M5 and Xperia C5 Ultra, which will be available in both single and dual-SIM variants. Both smartphones along with their dual SIM variants will be available in select countries across emerging markets starting mid-August.

In terms of specs, the newly announced Xperia C5 Ultra is a selfie focused phone sporting 13MP front and rear cameras. Both the front and rear cameras are bundled with LED flash modules along with Sony’s Exmor RS Sensor. Also, it gets a plethora of camera tools such as video stabilizer, 4x digital zoom, full-HD video recording and more.

The Xperia C5 Ultra gets a 6-inch full-HD IPS display coupled with Sony’s Mobile Bravia Engine 2. The company claims that the handset features a “near borderless” display.

The smartphone runs Android Lollipop 5.0 and is powered by a 64-bit MediaTek processor clocked at 1.7 GHz, which is further mated to an ARM Mali T760 GPU and 2GB RAM. The handset comes with 16GB of internal storage space which is expandable upto 200GB via a microSD card.

While connectivity options on the phone include GPRS/ EDGE, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, GLONASS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Micro-USB, 3G, and 4G LTE. Juicing up the Xperia C5 Ultra would be a 2930 mAh battery.

The Xperia M5 on the other hand, is touted as a super mid-range smartphone by the company, and gets IP65 and IP68 certification which makes the handset resistant to dust and water. Much like Sony’s IP certified devices launched earlier, the Xperia M5 also features a flap-less USB port.

The Sony Xperia M5 is powered by a 64 bit octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 chipset clocked at 2GHz, which is mated with a 3GB RAM. It also features 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 200GB via microSD card.

Optics on the smartphone includes a 13MP front camera along with a 21.5MP rear camera which the company calls ‘Hybrid autofocus’. The smartphone runs Android Lollipop 5.0 while juicing up the smartphone is a 2600mAh battery. Connectivity options on the smartphone include GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, and 4G.

As of now, there is no pricing information available through Sony is likely to reveal the pricing of both handsets at launch locally.
