Huawei showcased a few phones at CES 2016. Among them was the Huawei Honor 5X. Then the company made clear that the phone would become available in the United States by the end of January.
What wasn’t so clear was when the Honor 5X would get a European launch. However, now Huawei has provided clearer details pertaining to European availability for the phone. The company has confirmed the phone is launching in Europe in early February.
Huawei has already listed the phone on its European websites. That page includes a countdown timer for the European launch. On January 27th, the countdown includes just eight days for the Honor 5X launch in Europe. So that would be a February 4 launch for the handset.
Furthermore, the Honor 5X page includes a discount offer. You can enter an email address to get a promo code for the handset. Although, this offer depends on location, it could amount to a £20 discount for the mobile. That also includes a second promo code for an additional £10 discount. It’s a valid email offer in nine European countries among which are U.K., Germany, France, Spain and Italy.
The Honor 5X is a mid-range phone that offers reasonable value. Honor President, George Zhao, stated, “Honor 5X is a no-nonsense smartphone that delivers all the essentials millennials want and need in a device.” Although it has relatively standard specs, it boasts biometric technology and includes a second-generation fingerprint sensor.
The Honor 5X comes with a Snapdragon 615 chipset with quad-core 1.5 GHz processor. It has 2 GB RAM and internal storage amounting to 16 GB, albeit expandable up to 128 GB with microSD. Its primary camera has a 13-megapixel resolution, and the handset includes a 5-megapixel secondary camera. The mobile has a 5.5-inch display with 1,080 x 1,920 resolution.
This Huawei phone runs with the Android Lollipop platform. However, the company has announced that this handset will get an Android 6.0 update.
The Honor 5X will be available in the United States from January 31st. The latest announcement confirms a European launch will soon follow. Huawei has made some headway with its mobiles, and this latest handset could give the company a chance of climbing a few places in the phone makers’ charts.
