SanDisk iXpand memory case for iPhone 6, 6s solves storage issue

Memory chip maker SanDisk has come up with a set of new iPhone cases which adds additional storage along with an optional battery pack as well.

The iXpand Memory Case from SanDisk only fits the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s and does not apply to the bigger Plus variants. That perhaps has to do with size as the SanDisk cases already adds to the length of the iPhone and the same for the bigger iPhone Plus models would have made it unwieldy, to say the least.

Available in 32, 64, and 128 GB storage capacities, those need to be snapped onto the iPhone 6 and 6s, connecting to the device via the Lightning port. The additional storage will no doubt come in handy for the base 16 GB iPhone models that make it just barely enough for apps and games while storing pictures, music or videos would seriously deplete that scarce resource.

The company is also backing up its memory cases with a new app launched in the App Store, which should make accessing the store media files a breeze. The app will also allow users to back up pictures and videos from the Camera Roll automatically if they so wish to. Further, made of hard plastic on the outside along with soft plastics for the interiors, the shell also protects the iPhone from accidental shocks and bumps as well.

Apart from storage woes – for the base 16 GB model at least – battery happens to be the other issue that iPhone devices have often been associated with. It is here that the additional 1900mAh battery pack should come in handy.

That is more than double than the 1810mAh and 1715mAh battery pack that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S comes with and should also effectively increase the backup times for both handsets.

The cases are priced $59, $99, and $129 for the 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB size configurations and are available in Red, Grey, Sky, and Mint color options. The add-on battery pack will require shelling out an extra $40.
