The Oppo R17 Pro and R17 has been official launched in India. Both the devices are a premium offering having all the bells and whistles that applies to devices of this category that includes both specifications, style, and looks.
The first thing that catches the eye with the R17 and R17 Pro is its almost bezel-less display. Dominating the front is a 6.4-inch full HD+ display having a 19:9 aspect ratio and a screen-to-body ratio of 91.5 percent. The dew drop notch is the only disrupting feature of the display along with the almost razor thin chin at the bottom.
Another highlight of the display, or rather of the R17 duo is its incorporation of an in-screen fingerprint sensor.
Powering the R17 Pro is the Snapdragon 710 processor that has been built as per the 10nm manufacturing process and boasts of 2 performance cores and 6 efficiency cores. The R17, however, comes powered by the Snapdragon 670 chipset though all other specs remain largely the same.
That includes an 8 GB of memory along with 128 GB of storage, the latter again being non-expandable. The phone will, however, be running Android 8.1 Oreo with the company’s ColorOS 5.1 running on top. The lack of the latest Android Pie should no doubt be disappointing for most here.
Keeping the lights on is a 3,700mAh which Oppo said is compatible with Super VOOC fast charging technology. The company explained that saying the phone will pick up 40 percent charge within just 10 mins.
Another standout feature of the new R17 Pro is its rear camera setup comprising of a trio of sensors – a 12 mp standard lens, a secondary sensor of 20 mp resolution and a Time of Flight (TOF) camera. The primary lens boasts of dual aperture, that of f/1.5 and f/2.4 while the secondary lens has a fixed aperture of f/2.6. Then, there also is a 25 mp front shooter having f/2.0 aperture.
The base R17 meanwhile, has a slightly different camera setup given that it comes with a dual lens rear camera system. That includes a 16 mp primary camera along with a secondary camera of 5 mp resolution.
