The Realme event in New Delhi just got over and yielded the new mid-ranger Realme 3 phone which has been designed to take on the likes of the Redmi Note 7 or the Redmi Note 7 Pro. The company has been claiming better specs compared to the Xiaomi phones, and today the launch did confirm much of that.
To begin with, the new Realme 3 sports a 6.2-inch HD+ display featuring a dewdrop notch at the top. Not to mention, bezels are almost non-existent except for a slim chin at the bottom. Apart from the front, the other aspect of the phone that too adds to the style quotient is the 3D gradient composite unibody design that makes it look sleek and slim like none other.
Powering the phone is a 12nm octa-core Media HelioTek P70 chipset which the company claims make it the most powerful phone of its class. The phone also features the Mali G72 GPU for enhanced graphics processing abilities. To back up it claims, the company also exhibited AnTuTu figures which it said were twice as good as those of the predecessor. The phone will also be available in two models – 3/32 GB 4/64 GB.
Keeping the lights on is a 4230 mAh battery which the company said offers far better performance than even phones with 5000 mAh batteries. And aiding in that is a host of built-in software features the phone boasts of which Realme said extracts more out of every ounce of battery juice. Those include AI management or screen battery optimization to allow for best in class battery run times.
So far as optics are concerned, the new Realme 3 also sets a high benchmark for its competitors. That includes a 13 mp f1.8 primary cam along with a secondary camera of 2 mp and f2.4 aperture. The phone comes with class leading features such as Nightscape or Chroma Boost which it claimed will lead to better quality pictures than is otherwise possible with even higher rated phones or those higher in the class hierarchy.
These apart, there also is the PDAF and Bokeh settings that has become commonplace on mid-range phones. The front again benefits from a 13 mp f2.0 selfie cam. The sensor is designed to pick-up up to 296 facial recognition points for better selfie shots besides allowing for intelligent picture enhancement technique.
The company also revealed the new Realme 3 will be running ColorOS 6 that is based on Android 9 Pie. The officials also proudly stated there wouldn’t be any ads shown in the UI much to the cheer of the guests present during the launch. Among the other cool software features that the phone will come with include Riding Mode to enhance safety during riding.
The phone will be compatible with Google Lens and will offer the camera API for enthusiasts to work on the right from the day one. That is not all as the Realme 3 will also have its bootloader unlocked right from day one itself, another set of announcements that the crowds liked to the hilt.
Also launched during the event is the new branded Realme 2 Iconic cases that would be available in yellow, grey and classic diamond blue color options. The cases have also been priced conveniently at Rs. 599 apiece. While still on price, the 3 GB/ 32GB model is set to retail at Rs. 8,999 while the top-end 4 GB/ 64 GB model will set one back Rs. 10,999.
Sale starts on March 12 exclusively on Flipkart, from 12 noon onwards. There are some exciting launch offers available too, which includes a flat Rs. 500 discounts on HDFC cards while Jio too is offers some exciting data plans too.
Plus, the company also promised there is the even more amazing Realme 3 Pro that will be coming out in April in its Apple-esque ‘One more thing’ section at the end.
