Overview

3DBAE is a browser-based workspace for teams that need to configure and publish interactive 3D product scenes, rather than just produce still imagery. It suits product makers, e-commerce teams, and 3D studios that want a configurable viewer and AI creation tools in one workflow. Its range is compelling, but the Hobby plan is tightly capped and publishing a scene makes its rendering files accessible to link holders.

Key features

Visual creation and AI

Canvas connects images, prompts, and AI tools for product imagery, video, and image-to-3D generation. This gives creative teams a way to combine source media and generation in a visual workflow; teams relying on AI should compare expected use with the monthly credit allowance, since Hobby has none. When an AI feature runs, required inputs and settings go to configured model infrastructure. Those inputs may include prompts, reference media, and a snapshot of relevant project state, a material consideration for teams handling sensitive product work.

Configurator and viewer publishing

The configurator supports model and material variants, hotspots, animation, on-screen controls, and interaction logic. That breadth makes it suitable for presenting products with meaningful choices and guided interactions; the JavaScript Model API also provides a code-facing option for projects that need programmatic integration. Published viewers can be embedded by iframe, and supported scenes can open in AR on iPhone or Android.

Projects stay private unless shared or published. A public viewer link or embed exposes the published scene and the rendering files it needs to anyone who can access that link, so teams should treat publishing as a sharing decision rather than assume the project remains private.

Asset and developer workflows

3DBAE lists 12 import and 8 export formats, including GLB, glTF, FBX, OBJ, USDZ, STL, PLY, SPLAT, SPZ, and SOG. That range is useful for teams moving assets across varied 3D workflows, though a production pipeline should verify that its specific formats are covered. Live Link connects Autodesk 3ds Max 2024–2027 on 64-bit Windows to a browser project and syncs the exportable scene. The Platform MCP server connects compatible AI clients through OAuth and scopes approved for the task, while the JavaScript Model API serves projects that need configurator access in code.

3DBAE says it uses access controls, scoped authorization, encryption in transit, credential hashing, signed asset access, and logging. Support messages, contact details, and any files or diagnostic information users provide are processed to respond to support requests.

Pricing

3DBAE is freemium, with paid plans starting at $12/mo. The free Hobby plan costs 0.00 USD per month, billed Free forever, and includes 100 MB storage, one project, up to two models and two environment assets, and no AI credits. It can support a small evaluation or tightly constrained scene, but the single-project cap and lack of AI allowance make it a poor fit for ongoing multi-product work.

Professional costs 12.00 USD per month and provides 5 GB storage, unlimited projects and configurator assets, and 1,000 AI credits/month. It is the entry paid tier for teams that need more than one project and a modest monthly generation budget.

Creator AI costs 24.00 USD per month, with 10 GB storage, 15,000 AI credits/month, two parallel generations, and team collaboration. Extra seats are sold separately, so the headline price does not cover every collaborator. It better fits teams with sustained AI work and shared authoring needs.

Studio AI costs 59.00 USD per month and includes 50 GB storage, 36,000 AI credits/month, four parallel generations, and a 10% bonus on credit packs. It is the clearest fit for higher-volume generation and larger asset storage, though the value depends on actually using that capacity. Monthly AI credits are included on paid plans; no trial or renewal terms are stated here.

Platforms

3DBAE supports web, Android, iOS, Windows, and an API. The 3ds Max Live Link is specifically for 64-bit Windows and Autodesk 3ds Max versions 2024–2027. AR viewing is supported on iPhone or Android for compatible scenes.

Who it's for

3DBAE is aimed at e-commerce businesses, product manufacturers, 3D studios and designers, and marketing teams. It is strongest for teams that need interactive product configuration and browser-based publishing alongside visual AI workflows. A team needing only a conventional static render workflow, or one unwilling to expose published scene files to link holders, should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pros

Configuration depth: variants, hotspots, animation, controls, and interaction logic support more than a passive model viewer.
Connected creation and publishing: Canvas AI workflows, iframe viewers, and supported AR scenes span creation through presentation.
Developer hooks: a JavaScript Model API and scoped MCP access offer integration paths for code and compatible AI clients.
Flexible paid capacity: Professional removes project and configurator-asset caps, while higher tiers increase credits, storage, and parallel generations.

Cons

Hobby is constrained: one project, two models, two environment assets, 100 MB, and no AI credits limit meaningful ongoing use.
Collaboration adds cost: Creator AI sells extra seats separately, so teams must account for seat costs beyond its monthly price.
Sharing requires care: public links and embeds make scenes and required rendering files available to link holders.
AI involves project inputs: prompts, reference media, and relevant project-state snapshots may be sent to configured model infrastructure.

Alternatives

Spheri is worth considering for a free web/API starting point, but its free Starter tier has no live configurator, one product, no included credits, and a watermark; 3DBAE's Hobby likewise has strict caps but is oriented around building configurator scenes.

Sayduck is a paid alternative with web and API platforms, monthly or annual subscriptions, and a free trial; choose it if that subscription structure and trial suit your evaluation process.

Cylindo is a paid option for teams seeking a quote tailored to business needs, catalog size, and sales channels, with a 3D Design Bundle available as an add-on.

Zolak charges recurring monthly fees for its platform and 3D configurator components, making it an alternative for buyers who prefer that paid structure over 3DBAE's free entry tier.

3D Product Config starts at 29.00 USD per month for a Starter plan that includes 20 configurators, 100 3D model files, 200 texture files, a viewer and configurator, and conditional logic; choose it when those explicit asset and configurator allowances suit the project.

Mazing is a paid alternative with a Starter plan described as including hosted 3D/AR models and monthly AI model, lifestyle rendering, and product video allowances.

KeyShot offers a paid KeyShot Studio Professional plan with real-time ray-tracing preview, 34+ CAD format support with native plugins, local AI tools, and one-click animation.

TARDIS is another freemium alternative with web, iOS, and Android platforms.

Verdict

Choose 3DBAE if your team needs interactive product configuration, embeddable viewers, and AI-assisted creation in a browser workspace, with API and 3ds Max paths for connected workflows. Look elsewhere if the Hobby caps block your work, extra collaboration seats undermine the budget, or your sharing and AI-data requirements make its publishing and input-handling model unsuitable.
