Overview

The library contains more than 169,000 illustrations and icons in SVG, PNG and editable Adobe Illustrator formats. The company says its premium artwork is hand-crafted by its design team rather than AI-generated. That makes it a substantial option for teams seeking a consistent library of designed assets, while the free account gives a way to start without paying.

Paid plans include a commercial license without attribution; free packs require a link credit. Premium files require an account or plan with access, and the free account provides low-resolution watermarked previews for illustrations outside its free packs. These distinctions matter for production use: a free preview is not a substitute for a clean, licensed deliverable.

Key features

Design-tool workflows

The Figma plugin supports searching, inserting and recoloring assets without leaving Figma. The site describes the same workflow for Adobe Illustrator, Adobe XD, Sketch, Webflow, Lucid and IconJar. This is a practical advantage for designers who want to bring library assets into existing tools; it is less relevant to teams whose asset pipeline is centered elsewhere.

API access

The REST API supports search, filtering and downloads, with API-key authentication and monthly request quotas. The free key allows 1,500 calls per calendar month, while API Pro raises that to 300,000. Premium files still require an account or plan that grants access, so a larger quota alone does not unlock the full library.

Custom work and trust

The custom design service creates bespoke illustrations and icons, starting at $190 per project, with average delivery of two days. It can suit a team that needs work beyond the catalogue, though custom projects are a separate purchase.

The privacy policy says GetIllustrations does not sell personal information and that Paddle processes payment details, which GetIllustrations says it neither stores nor accesses. It describes TLS encryption in transit, bcrypt password hashing, need-to-know access controls, regular security reviews and encrypted S3 storage. These are relevant safeguards for teams assessing a vendor, not a substitute for their own security review.

Pricing

Pricing spans free access, individual packs, subscriptions and a lifetime purchase. The main trade-off is between a low-cost entry point with narrower access and higher tiers that unlock more formats, downloads or API capacity.

Developer API Free — 0.00 USD per free: 1,500 API calls per month, free assets and watermarked previews of premium assets. It is a sensible integration starting point, but the quota and preview-only premium access constrain production use.
Free Account — 0.00 USD per free: 40+ free packs, low-resolution watermarked PNG previews for all illustrations, and SVG, PNG and AI files for free packs. Free packs include a commercial license, and no card is required. This works for exploration or limited work from the free packs; link credit is required.
Single packs — 19.00 USD per once: From $19 per pack, with an individual illustration or icon pack, SVG, PNG, AI and Figma source files, a commercial license and free updates to the purchased pack. It suits a specific project or a team that does not need the full catalogue.
Developer API Pro — 49.00 USD per month: $49 per month, or $409 per year (save ~30%), with 300,000 API calls per month, the entire icon and illustration library, clean SVG, PNG and source files, and integration support. It is the clearest fit for an application or workflow drawing assets programmatically, provided the quota is sufficient.
Ultimate Quarterly — 99.00 USD per month: Billed $99 per quarter, with all illustrations and icons, 1,800 credits per quarter and SVG and PNG downloads. It excludes ZIP and layered source files, so the credit allowance and narrower format set make it a weaker fit for teams that need editable source assets or unrestricted downloads.
Illustrations All Access — 195.00 USD per year: Unlimited downloads of all illustration packs in SVG, PNG, AI and Figma source formats, with a commercial license and no attribution. Optional auto-renewal is $97/yr. It is suited to illustration-heavy work, but covers illustration packs rather than the broader illustrations-and-icons access of the Ultimate tiers.
Ultimate All Access — 249.00 USD per year: All illustrations and icons with unlimited downloads in SVG, PNG, AI, Figma and ZIP, two team seats, priority support and 40% off custom work. Optional auto-renewal is $147/yr. This is the strongest fit for a small team that needs both asset types and multiple formats; two seats may be restrictive for larger teams.
Lifetime Ultimate — 599.00 USD per once: Every illustration and icon, every format, future weekly updates, two team seats, a commercial license and API access at the 1,500-calls-per-month free tier. It avoids a recurring subscription, but the API allowance is the free tier, not Pro capacity.
Developer API Enterprise — custom pricing: Unlimited API calls, dedicated support, an SLA and uptime guarantee, and custom integration help. It is aimed at teams that need a higher-volume integration and a service commitment.

The pricing page advertises a 14-day money-back guarantee. Subscriptions can be cancelled, and downloaded files remain accessible forever. The free account is permanent, while the API’s free key is capped monthly; neither should be mistaken for full premium access.

Platforms

GetIllustrations supports web and API access. Its Figma plugin and stated workflows for Adobe Illustrator, Adobe XD, Sketch, Webflow, Lucid and IconJar bring assets into several design and content tools, but the product’s platform listing is web and API rather than a broad native-app catalogue.

Who it's for

Designers can use the library and plugin workflows to source and adapt artwork in their existing tools. Developers have a REST API with filtering and a much higher monthly quota on Pro. Marketing teams and product groups can use the catalogue for client, product and app work, choosing between a single pack and broader access according to how often they need assets.

It is less compelling for a team needing more than two seats on the listed Ultimate plan, extensive API volume at the lowest cost, or layered source files under the quarterly option. Teams with those needs should compare the relevant plan limits before adopting it.

Pros and cons

Pros

Large catalogue and broad formats: More than 169,000 assets and formats including SVG, PNG, AI and Figma source files support varied design workflows.
Useful integration paths: The Figma plugin and REST API connect library access to design and developer workflows.
Several ways to buy: Free packs, individual packs, annual access, quarterly access and a lifetime option suit different levels of commitment.
Commercial use is straightforward on paid plans: Paid plans include a commercial license without attribution; free packs require a link credit.

Cons

Free access is limited for production: Illustrations outside free packs appear as low-resolution watermarked PNGs, and premium files require an eligible account or plan.
Some paid access has meaningful constraints: Ultimate Quarterly has 1,800 credits per quarter and excludes ZIP and layered source files.
Team size is capped on named Ultimate tiers: Ultimate All Access and Lifetime Ultimate include two seats.
API tiers differ sharply: Lifetime Ultimate includes the 1,500-calls-per-month free tier, while API Pro provides 300,000 calls per month.

Alternatives

Pixabay is a better fit when a free media library and web, mobile or API access matter more than GetIllustrations’ vector-asset focus; its full-resolution photo and video downloads require sign-up.

Ouch! by Icons8 is worth considering when a freemium illustration service with availability across a wider range of platforms is a better match; its free illustrations require attribution.

Bigstock may suit teams looking for a paid stock service with a free plan and trial, including plans expressed as daily and monthly image-download allowances.

Depositphotos is another freemium option to compare when an unlimited-download plan is the priority.

Adobe Stock is an option for teams seeking a paid stock service with a free trial and standard-asset plans.

Dreamstime is a freemium alternative with image-count plans.

iStock is a paid alternative with annual plans billed monthly, including Basic and Premium tiers with 10 downloads per month.

Shutterstock is a paid alternative to consider for image plans or unlimited-image options.

Verdict

GetIllustrations is a strong choice for designers and small teams that want a broad illustration-and-icon catalogue, usable design-tool workflows and an API path under one roof. Its main advantage is the range of ways to access assets, from individual packs to unlimited downloads and a 300,000-call API plan. Look elsewhere if your workflow depends on more than two seats, layered files under the quarterly tier or API volume beyond the free allowance without moving to Pro or Enterprise.
