Overview

Acumatica Field Service brings scheduling, dispatch, service work, inventory, and billing into connected field-service operations. It suits service-driven businesses that need those workflows tied to broader business processes, especially distributors, manufacturers, and construction companies.

Its breadth is the draw: technicians can handle work on mobile while teams coordinate contracts, stock, and financial processes. Custom pricing and hybrid deployment make it a better fit for organizations willing to assess usage and deployment needs before committing than for buyers seeking a fixed-price, standalone tool.

Key features

A drag-and-drop scheduling calendar accounts for technician skills and availability alongside job priority, equipment, materials, and service requirements. That gives dispatchers more than a simple appointment grid, though teams must evaluate whether the workflow matches their own scheduling needs.

Mobile tools let technicians review appointments, record time and expenses, capture signatures, issue inventory, and complete service work. That connection between field activity and inventory or billing can reduce the gap between work performed and business records.

Teams can manage service, repair, and recurring maintenance contracts, renewals, scheduled billing, and invoices based on estimates or actual work. Recurring jobs, invoicing and payments, route optimization, and a customer portal are also supported, making the product relevant to businesses coordinating repeat visits and customer-facing service.

Field Service connects with CRM, inventory, purchasing, projects, and financial processes. CRM opportunities can become service orders and appointments. Open APIs, prebuilt connectors, and Marketplace applications extend the product across scheduling, mobile field work, project management, and billing. This breadth favors organizations that want field operations tied into business systems; buyers seeking a narrow dispatch utility may not need it.

Acumatica identifies encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access, MFA, SSO, audit trails, backups, and AWS hosting among its security measures. It says it meets or exceeds SOC 1/2/3, GDPR, and FDA standards. Partner-provided evaluation, implementation, training, and ongoing support sit alongside 24/7 direct support and online community resources.

Pricing

Acumatica Field Service: custom pricing, based on applications, expected usage and resources, and deployment preferences; contact an Acumatica partner for pricing. The plan includes unlimited users, so the cost model is not presented as a per-seat limit. Instead, buyers should assess their expected usage, application mix, and deployment requirements with a partner. There is no free plan.

The single plan avoids a tier ladder that gates features by price, but custom pricing makes cost comparison less immediate. It is best suited to teams evaluating the wider Acumatica environment rather than buyers who need a published price or a free entry point.

Platforms

Acumatica Field Service supports web, iOS, and Android, as well as API access. Its deployment model is hybrid, which may suit organizations with deployment preferences that do not fit a cloud-only approach. Confirm that the hybrid model fits the intended environment before choosing it.

Who it's for

The product is aimed at service-driven businesses, distributors, construction companies, and manufacturers handling installation, maintenance, repairs, deliveries, or remote service. It is most compelling when field work needs to connect with inventory, purchasing, projects, CRM, and finance. Teams that only need appointment scheduling or dispatch, without those connected processes, should weigh whether this broader scope is warranted.

Pros and cons

Connected service-to-finance workflows: service orders, inventory, contracts, and billing connect with wider business processes, supporting teams that need operational and financial records aligned.
Useful mobile work capture: technicians can record time and expenses, capture signatures, issue stock, and complete service work from mobile tools.
Scheduling considers field constraints: calendar scheduling can account for skills, availability, equipment, materials, priority, and service requirements.
Cost requires a partner conversation: custom pricing based on usage, applications, resources, and deployment makes early budget comparison harder than a published rate.
Hybrid deployment needs a fit check: it offers deployment choice, but organizations should confirm that hybrid aligns with their preferred operating model.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison of field-service products, see Field Service Management Software. If production planning is central to the decision, compare options in Production Planning Software; for distribution-focused needs, see Distribution Management Software. Retail teams can also explore Retail Management Software.

NewStore and Aptos Retail are paid alternatives with Android, iOS, web, and API support. Cegid Retail is another paid option, with no free plan and additional self-hosted and Windows platform support; its price is available by demo request.

Erply may suit buyers looking for a published monthly tier: its Growth Plan costs 1000.00 USD per month and includes three stores, 100,000 queries per month, unlimited users, and 2,000 AI actions per month. Heartland Retail is worth considering for buyers who want a freemium option; its POS plan starts at 89.00 USD per month.

Retail Pro prices each additional user per location at 99.00 USD per contact and has a minimum initial subscription term of 24 months. SAP Retail offers a private-edition retail merchandise management plan with a flat fee and a contract duration of one to five years. NetSuite Retail Management System uses an annual subscription with a one-time implementation fee; its license covers the core platform, optional modules, and a number of users, with modules and users added as needed.

Verdict

Choose Acumatica Field Service if field work needs to stay connected to contracts, inventory, CRM, projects, and finance, and unlimited users with usage-based custom pricing suit your buying process. Look elsewhere if you need a fixed published price or a simpler standalone service tool; the breadth is valuable only when your operations can use it.
