Overview

TeamForge brings process configuration, work tracking, documentation, baselines, and source control into a shared ALM environment. It supports waterfall, hybrid, and custom processes, with reusable process configurations—a practical fit for organizations that need a consistent framework without forcing every team into the same workflow.

The product is paid, with custom pricing. Its deployment model is hybrid: teams can install it on premises, while cloud deployment requires contacting Digital.ai. That choice supports organizations with infrastructure constraints, but teams seeking transparent pricing or a self-service cloud purchase should look elsewhere.

Key features

Work and documentation

Trackers support custom fields, workflows, and relationships, giving teams room to model tasks around their own process. Documents centralize project materials with version control, access management, and collaboration. The combination helps keep work items and their supporting materials in the ALM environment rather than treating documentation as an afterthought.

Baselines and source control

Baselines let teams compare changes, review packaged content, and create projects from approved configurations. That is valuable when work must start from a known state or changes need review against a prior snapshot. Git and Subversion support includes replication, code reviews, pull requests, commit associations, and inline editing, making TeamForge relevant to teams that need repository workflows alongside project tracking.

Governance and integrations

Fine-grained role-based access controls let organizations manage permissions for internal and external project participants. Listed integrations include Nexus, Jenkins, Micro Focus ALM, Jira, TestLink, Gerrit, and Review Board, giving teams routes to connect TeamForge with tools already in their stack. LDAP and SAML single sign-on are included across the listed editions.

TeamForge also covers requirements and release management, traceability, configurable delivery methods, pipeline as code, approval gates, progressive delivery, rollback, infrastructure as code, artifact registry, observability, incident management, roadmaps, and time tracking. That range positions it beyond a source-control and tracker bundle, though the edition matrix matters: SCM, ALM Essentials, and ALM Pro differ in included capabilities.

Pricing

Digital.ai TeamForge ALM: custom pricing; contact sales for pricing and licensing. There is no free plan. Essentials and Pro include trackers and documents, while wiki and baselines are listed in Pro. The feature matrix lists SCM as a separate edition, so teams should confirm which capabilities and licensing scope match their needs before committing.

Bundled support varies by edition: local business-hours support for Essentials, 24/7 support for Pro, and 24/7 Premium support. Product versions receive support for 18 months from their official release date. Those terms make edition selection and upgrade planning operational decisions, not just feature comparisons.

Platforms

TeamForge is available through API, Linux, self-hosted, and web. Manual on-premises installation is supported on RHEL or AlmaLinux servers; the installation guide covers versions 8.10 and 9.6. Cloud deployment options require contacting Digital.ai. Teams with Linux server capacity and a preference for infrastructure control have a clear on-premises path, while cloud-seeking buyers need to discuss deployment directly with the vendor.

Who it's for

TeamForge is best suited to organizations that need configurable lifecycle processes, access governance, source control, and project artifacts managed in a connected ALM offering. Its support for both Git and Subversion, plus role-based controls for external teams, is especially relevant where repositories and collaboration span different groups.

It is a weaker fit for small teams that want a free starting tier, published seat-based pricing, or a simple subscription decision. Buyers should also verify that the required capabilities sit in the intended edition, particularly if baselines or wiki are central to their workflow.

Pros and cons

Pros: Configurable workflows and reusable processes accommodate waterfall, hybrid, and custom delivery without prescribing one method.
Pros: Git and Subversion workflows, trackers, documents, and baselines bring code and project coordination into one ALM environment.
Pros: Fine-grained permissions, LDAP/SAML SSO, and deployment choice suit organizations with governance or infrastructure requirements.
Cons: Custom pricing and no free plan make it harder for smaller teams to assess cost before engaging sales.
Cons: Wiki and baselines are Pro features, so the lower Essentials edition may not cover teams that depend on either.
Cons: Cloud deployment requires vendor contact, adding a step for teams looking for immediate self-service adoption.

Alternatives

For a broader look at adjacent categories, compare Application Lifecycle Management Software, DevOps Platforms, IT Release Management Software, and Value Stream Management Software. Teams focused on browser coverage can also browse Cross-Browser Testing Software or Device Farm Software.

Swarmia is worth considering for smaller engineering teams seeking a freemium option: its free plan is limited to companies with fewer than 10 software developers and excludes HRIS integrations and Swarmia AI. Planview AdaptiveWork, Cora Value Stream Management, and Kovair Value Stream Management Platform are other paid options with pricing available by request or through a demo. Keypup Value Stream Management Dashboard, Axify, Plandek, and ValueStream by MapVS are additional alternatives to consider.

Verdict

Choose Digital.ai TeamForge if your organization needs configurable ALM workflows, source control, project artifacts, and governed collaboration under one roof, with an on-premises route available. Look elsewhere if published pricing, a free tier, or self-service cloud deployment is a priority; the edition boundaries and custom quote also call for careful validation before purchase.
