Overview

WebAdMIT centers admissions work on a shared applicant database, with tools to track progress, review submissions, communicate with applicants, report on trends, and manage decisions and enrollment. That connected workflow is useful for teams coordinating multiple stages of an application cycle. Its fit depends in part on participation in a Liaison Centralized Application Service (CAS) or the need to move applicant data into institutional systems.

Key features

Applicant management: Staff can search, filter, sort, and track applicant records in a centralized database. This gives admissions teams a common way to follow progress rather than treating each stage as a separate task.
Application review: Applications can be assigned to reviewers and committees, who can examine supporting documents, comment, and score submissions. WebAdMIT Holistic adds rubric-based review aligned with institutional missions; WebAdMIT Predictive adds machine-learning likelihood-to-enroll scores. These tools support more structured evaluation, though the core review workflow is the clearer fit for teams that do not need those enhanced approaches.
Applicant communications: Email templates, correspondence tracking, and automated notifications, reminders, and updates support communication across an application cycle. Decision and enrollment workflows, alongside document collection, extend the system beyond initial review.
Reporting and data exchange: Reporting and analysis tools help teams monitor application trends and assess recruitment strategies. WebAdMIT is natively integrated with participating CAS data, and its API can transfer applicant data to institutional SIS or ERP systems such as Slate and Banner. Export Manager files, bulk PDF Manager downloads, reports, and scheduled SFTP delivery provide additional ways to move data; teams should match those routes to their existing systems.
Security and access: WebAdMIT runs on AWS and specifies TLS 1.2 as its minimum secure connection standard. It supports SAML 2.0 single sign-on with Entra ID, Shibboleth, and Oracle Access Manager, but implementation carries a one-time fee and annual maintenance. Current Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge browsers are supported; Internet Explorer is not. Smartphone and tablet access works through a compatible browser, though Liaison recommends a computer for optimal use.

Pricing

The WebAdMIT plan is 0.00 USD per free for programs participating in a Liaison Centralized Application Service (CAS). That makes it a practical entry point for eligible programs needing applicant communications, review and decision workflows, enrollment management, document collection, and SIS integration. The participation condition rules it out as a general free admissions system.

WebAdMIT is otherwise paid, with custom pricing. Teams evaluating it outside the complimentary CAS arrangement should request pricing and account for the separate one-time SSO implementation fee and annual maintenance if SAML single sign-on is needed.

Platforms

WebAdMIT supports API and web access. Browser use covers current Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge, while mobile access is possible in a compatible browser; a computer is Liaison's recommended option for optimal use.

Who it's for

WebAdMIT is strongest for admissions offices coordinating applicant records, committee review, applicant communications, decisions, and enrollment in one process. It is particularly relevant to programs participating in a Liaison CAS or institutions that need applicant-data exchange with an SIS or ERP. Teams seeking a free product without CAS participation, or a system centered on a different institutional workflow, should compare alternatives before committing.

Pros and cons

Pros

Admissions-specific tracking, review, communication, decision, and enrollment workflows cover multiple stages of the applicant journey.
CAS integration, API transfer, exports, and scheduled SFTP support several routes for connecting applicant data to institutional systems.
The complimentary plan includes core admissions capabilities for programs participating in a Liaison CAS.

Cons

The free plan requires Liaison CAS participation, limiting its relevance to programs outside that network.
Custom pricing makes budgeting less direct for paid deployments, and SSO adds a one-time implementation fee plus annual maintenance.
Mobile browser access is supported, but Liaison recommends a computer for optimal use.

Alternatives

Admissions Software is a useful starting point for comparing systems across the category. For a lightweight form, survey, or quiz need rather than an admissions workflow, SurveyMonkey has a free Basic plan with 10 questions per survey and limited responses per survey. Gecko is another paid option for teams comparing admissions platforms across mobile, API, and web access.

DreamApply suits institutions prepared to contact the provider to provision an instance. Finalsite Enrollment is another paid admissions option for teams willing to request a demo for pricing. For institutions that want a paid admissions and enrollment license with a published annual price point, Slate lists a 30,000.00 USD per year license for fewer than 1,500 annual submitted applications; it has no free plan.

OpenEMIS Admissions is worth considering when free, self-hosted, open-source software is the priority. Embark is a paid alternative for teams comparing an option with Android, iOS, and web platforms. OpenApply offers paid subscription choices billed annually or for two years upfront, with fees based on enrolled student numbers.

Verdict

Choose WebAdMIT if your admissions team needs a dedicated applicant-to-enrollment workflow and can benefit from Liaison CAS participation or institutional data exchange. Its combination of committee review, applicant communications, reporting, and transfer options is its strongest reason to choose it. Look elsewhere if CAS participation is not an option and you need straightforward pricing, or if your team prioritizes a free self-hosted platform instead.
