Overview

Adobe Stock’s library contains more than 900 million stock assets, spanning images, video, audio, templates, and other content. Subscriptions cover standard images, templates, 3D assets, and music; most plans also include HD video. The breadth makes it a practical source for projects that need several asset types, though buyers should match the plan and license to how each asset will be used.

AI Studio can modify stock images and videos before licensing and downloading them. Users can change color, mood, or aspect ratio, swap a background, animate a still image, or make text-based edits. This helps adapt a candidate asset before purchase, but it is not a substitute for a full creative workflow.

Adobe Stock works on its own, so using it does not require other Adobe products. Creative Cloud users can preview, edit, and license assets in Photoshop before purchase, which makes it a more natural fit for teams already working in that environment.

Key features

Commercial licensing with meaningful limits

Plans include commercial-use licensing, but the Standard License generally caps print runs at 500,000 and excludes items for resale. An Extended License is required for larger print runs or resale use. That distinction matters for product packaging, merchandise, and other high-volume or resale projects: confirm the required license before building a production plan around an asset.

API and asset formats

API access gives teams a route to connect Adobe Stock with their own software workflows. The catalog includes vector, illustration, and editorial assets, alongside the broader image, video, audio, and template library. This range is useful when a project needs more than photography, while the API makes the service relevant beyond manual browsing.

Team and enterprise administration

Team subscriptions support pooled licenses across members and are aimed at small to midsize businesses. Enterprise subscriptions add configurable access and advanced administration and deployment for midsize to large organizations. Adobe describes its security approach as including hundreds of processes and controls through its Secure Product Lifecycle, and says it follows many industry standards and regulations with independent audits.

Pricing

Adobe Stock is paid, offers a 7-day trial, and has no free plan. The listed subscription options include:

10 standard assets: 10 standard assets, 1 video, and 120 rollover credits; custom pricing.
25 standard assets: 25 standard assets, 3 videos, and 300 rollover credits; custom pricing.
40 standard assets: 40 standard assets, 6 videos, and 480 rollover credits; custom pricing.
750 standard assets: 750 standard assets and 25 videos; custom pricing.
3 standard assets: 3 standard assets and 36 rollover credits; custom pricing.
25 standard assets month-to-month: 25 standard assets, 3 videos, and 300 rollover credits; custom pricing.

The smaller quotas suit lighter asset needs, while the 750-asset option is aimed at much higher-volume use. Rollover credits are included in several options, but their expiry rules apply to credit packs: unused credits expire 12 months after purchase outside Japan and after 6 months for residents of Japan. Business plan inquiries can be made through a consultation request.

Platforms

Adobe Stock supports web, Android, iOS, and API access. It can be used independently of Creative Cloud, with Photoshop integration available for users who want to preview, edit, and license assets in that application.

Who it's for

Adobe Stock fits creatives and content teams that need a large, mixed-format catalog, commercial-use licensing, and editing before licensing. It is also a strong option for small and midsize teams that benefit from pooled licenses, or larger organizations that need configurable access and administration. Buyers creating resale goods or very large print runs should account for the Extended License; teams seeking a free plan should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pros: A catalog of more than 900 million assets across multiple formats gives teams a broad source for varied projects.
Pros: AI Studio editing before licensing helps users adjust imagery and video before committing to a download.
Pros: API access, pooled team licenses, and enterprise administration support both integrated workflows and larger organizations.
Cons: No free plan means there is no ongoing free tier for occasional users, despite the 7-day trial.
Cons: Standard License limits make it unsuitable for some resale and high-volume print uses unless the buyer obtains an Extended License.
Cons: The listed plan options have custom pricing, so buyers cannot compare their costs from a published price here.

Alternatives

For a different stock-video focus, compare Storyblocks: its Essentials plan is 21.00 USD per month billed annually for one user with an individual license and unlimited downloads of 8K, 4K, and HD footage and video templates. Pick it when that video-download model fits better than Adobe Stock’s asset quotas.

Jitter is a web-based freemium option with a free tier capped at three workspace files and 720p, 30fps exports; choose it when those limits suit the project and a free starting point matters. Pixel Film Studios has a free starter tier with unlimited downloads, free asset updates, and live chat support, plus a 39.99 USD monthly plan; consider it when that offer fits your needs.

Allavio offers free sample titles and selected templates for DaVinci Resolve 19 and above. Animdock is a free web option with WebM and PNG exports and no registration requirement. Mixkit offers unlimited free downloads without attribution or signup. Motion Master Templates provides 114 Final Cut Pro templates on a free-to-download, pay-what-it-is-worth basis, with personal and commercial use. ProductionCrate has a free plan with five downloads per day and basic libraries, and a 49.00 USD monthly PRO plan for full library access with up to 50 downloads per day.

For broader category comparisons, browse motion graphics template libraries, stock photo websites, stock video websites, or stock illustration websites.

Verdict

Adobe Stock is a strong choice for creative teams that need a large, varied commercial asset library, especially when AI Studio editing, API access, or pooled licensing will matter to their workflow. Its main reasons to look elsewhere are the lack of a free plan, custom-priced subscriptions, and Standard License restrictions on resale and large print runs. Choose it when catalog breadth and workflow fit outweigh those limits; otherwise, compare a free or more narrowly focused alternative.
