Overview

Virusdie is a cloud-based security service for scanning, cleaning, and protecting websites. It is best suited to site owners and service providers who need website-focused remediation and want to connect protection to an existing workflow. Its breadth is useful, but the monthly free scan is a narrow starting point; ongoing automatic cleanup and protection begin with Premium.

Key features

Virusdie can automatically remove malicious code from website files and databases, including on already infected sites. That makes it more than a detection tool for operators who need remediation as well as alerts. The website firewall targets attacks such as XSS and SQL injection, with IP and URL allowlists and blocklists for access control.

Vulnerability detection is paired with automatic virtual patching, giving site operators a way to address exposure while a permanent fix is pending. Investigation tools include descriptions of malware and vulnerabilities, a file editor that highlights malicious code, a database editor, and a file manager.

Connection uses a unique PHP sync file uploaded to the website root; Virusdie says no installation is required. The service supports popular CMSs including WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal, and describes support for many PHP-based CMSs as platform-agnostic. Its WHMCS add-on connects to customer sites through cPanel, Plesk, ISPConfig, and DirectAdmin. An API is offered to hosting providers, registrars, developers, and web service providers.

Paid plans include email alerts for scans, cleanup results, and significant hack attempts, along with weekly and monthly PDF summaries. Regular support is via a ticket system; the company also provides a support email address.

Pricing

Virusdie uses a freemium model. The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and covers 1 website with one automated malware and vulnerability scan per month. That is suitable for occasional checks, not continuous monitoring or cleanup.

Premium costs 15.00 USD per month, billed $15/MO, with VAT calculated upon checkout. It covers 1 website, daily and unlimited on-demand scans, automatic cleanup, and protection tools. For a single-site owner who needs regular scanning and remediation, this is the practical entry point; the free tier gives up scan frequency and the listed cleanup and protection tools.

PRO costs 499.00 USD per month, billed $499/MO, with VAT calculated upon checkout. It covers 1,000 websites, includes 3 teamwork seats, and adds agency features. It is aimed at businesses selling security services to clients, rather than owners managing one site. The Teamwork add-on is 24.99 USD per month, billed $24.99/MO per seat, and the Website insurance add-on is 9.99 USD per month, billed $9.99/MO per site; both are marked “Comming soon.”

API integration has custom pricing: it supports unlimited websites on a pay-as-you-go basis, with pricing available by contacting sales. This suits providers integrating protection at scale, but requires a sales conversation rather than a published price.

Platforms

Virusdie is available on web and through an API. It is designed for websites, including popular CMSs and many PHP-based systems. iOS and Android apps are described as coming in 2026, so they are not a current platform option.

Who it's for

Small and medium-sized businesses that want website scanning, cleanup, and protection in one service are the clearest fit, particularly when they operate PHP-based CMS sites. Hosting providers and agencies have a more relevant route through the WHMCS integration, API, or the 1,000-site PRO plan. Virusdie is a weaker fit for teams seeking a published API price, broader platform coverage beyond web and API, or a free tier with frequent scans.

Pros and cons

Pro: Automatic cleanup covers malicious code in files and databases, including already infected sites, so the service addresses remediation rather than detection alone.
Pro: Firewall controls, vulnerability detection, and virtual patching bring prevention and investigation tools alongside malware cleanup.
Pro: WHMCS, control-panel connections, and an API give hosting and service providers options for fitting website security into customer workflows.
Con: Free scanning is limited to one automated scan per month on one website, making it a poor substitute for ongoing protection.
Con: The sync-file setup requires uploading a PHP file to each website root, a workflow that may not suit operators who cannot manage site files directly.
Con: PRO costs 499.00 USD per month, and API pricing is custom, which makes the provider-oriented options less straightforward to assess against a fixed budget.

Alternatives

For a directory of other tools in the category, see Malware Removal Software.

BitNinja is worth considering when VPS-oriented coverage or its Android, iOS, Linux, self-hosted, web, and API platform range matters more than Virusdie's website-focused file cleanup.
ClamAV is the alternative to consider for a free, open-source anti-virus engine under GPL rather than a paid website security service.
Comodo Internet Security is a Windows-focused alternative.
Dr.Web CureIt! is a Windows option with one-time scanning in its free plan.
ESET Mobile Security for Android is an Android-focused alternative with a free basic tier.
Microsoft Quick Assist is a free option for its stated Windows app and Microsoft Support interactions on macOS and web.
Spybot – Search & Destroy is a Windows alternative with free anti-spyware scanning and removal.
Adlice Protect is a Windows alternative with free malware scanning and removal for personal use.

Verdict

Choose Virusdie if you manage websites and want scanning, automatic cleanup, firewall controls, and vulnerability tools in a single service, especially if you can use its sync-file or provider integrations. Look elsewhere if a monthly scan is not enough for a free tier, if the sync-file workflow does not fit your access model, or if predictable API pricing is essential.
