Overview

Agenta brings agent-building and operational oversight together, rather than focusing only on prompt work. Teams can use agents in Slack or Telegram, and templates cover engineering, customer support, sales, company knowledge, and operations. Connections include Slack, Notion, GitHub, HubSpot, Google Drive, Linear, Zendesk, and Discord, alongside support for more than 1,000 integrations. That breadth makes Agenta a plausible fit when agents need to work across a team's existing tools.

Scheduled and event-triggered runs support recurring and responsive workflows. Traces, execution logs and errors, version history, evaluations, and token usage with estimated model costs help teams inspect agent activity and changes. Agenta supports OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Mistral, Groq, MiniMax, Together AI, OpenRouter, Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, Google Vertex AI, and OpenAI-compatible endpoints. Users connect their own credentials and pay model providers directly, so the subscription is not the whole operating cost.

Key features

Agent creation and automation

The department-spanning templates provide starting points for teams with different use cases, while scheduled and event-triggered runs move agents beyond one-off interactions. The Slack and Telegram options put agents in familiar team channels. This breadth is useful for teams coordinating several workflows; teams seeking only a narrow prompt utility may not need the wider agent workspace.

Run visibility and prompt work

Traces, logs, errors, evaluations, version history, and token-use estimates give teams several ways to review executions and changes. Agenta also supports prompt testing, versioning, templates, access controls, and API or SDK access. These capabilities suit teams that want development and run review in the same environment, although model-cost estimates do not replace the provider bills.

Deployment and control

Cloud plans avoid operating the application stack, while self-hosting gives teams control over where data is stored. In exchange, self-hosted users must deploy and operate the application, storage, agent runner, upgrades, and backups themselves. That is a meaningful trade-off: infrastructure control is valuable for teams prepared to own the operational work, but less attractive to teams seeking a fully managed service.

Pricing

Agenta is freemium, with paid cloud plans from 29.00 USD per month. Every cloud plan still requires separate model-provider credentials and direct payment to the provider.

Plan	Price	What it includes
Hobby	0.00 USD per free	2 team members, 5,000 agent runs per month, 20 evaluations per month, and 1-week trace retention. Runs stop at the monthly cap.
Open source	0.00 USD per free	Self-hosted, with unlimited users, projects, agents, workflows, schedules, and event triggers; self-managed trace retention and bring-your-own models and credentials.
Pro	29.00 USD per month	Unlimited team members, 10,000 runs per month included, $5 per additional 10,000 runs, unlimited evaluations, and 1-month trace retention.
Business	299.00 USD per month	10,000 runs per month included, $5 per additional 10,000 runs, RBAC, SSO, a SOC 2 Type II report, 3-month trace retention, priority support, and a private Slack Connect channel.
Enterprise (Cloud)	Custom pricing	Custom usage and trace retention, audit logs, custom domains, dedicated support, and a custom SLA.
Enterprise (self-hosted)	Custom pricing	Self-hosted deployment, audit logs, custom domains, deployment and upgrade support, dedicated support, and a custom SLA.

Hobby is a useful no-cost entry point for a small team, but its two-member ceiling, limited evaluations, short retention, and hard run stop make it a poor fit for sustained or growing workloads. Pro removes the seat ceiling and raises the run allowance, but does not add the Business security controls or longer retention. Business is aimed at organizations that need RBAC, SSO, and a SOC 2 Type II report, with paid overages rather than a hard cap. Open source avoids a subscription and imposes no listed product quotas, but transfers hosting and maintenance to the team. Enterprise plans are for organizations needing tailored usage or retention and additional operational or governance support.

Hobby and Pro list community support through GitHub Issues. Business adds priority support and a private Slack Connect channel. Model-provider costs remain separate on every plan.

Platforms

Agenta is available as a web product and API, as well as self-hosted software. Its mobile app supports chatting with agents, continuing conversations, handling tool approvals, and managing workspaces from a phone. Self-hosted deployment is the option for teams that need to choose where data resides and can operate the required infrastructure.

Who it's for

Agenta is best suited to teams building agents for multiple workplace tasks, connecting them to existing services, and needing visibility into runs. Its range of model providers and API or SDK access also makes it relevant to developer teams integrating agents into an existing stack. Teams with strict infrastructure-control needs may prefer self-hosting; teams without capacity to manage upgrades, backups, storage, and the runner should favor cloud. It is less compelling for small users whose workloads exceed Hobby's cap but do not justify a paid plan, especially once direct model charges are considered.

Pros and cons

Pros: Broad integrations and templates cover a range of team workflows, reducing the need to confine agents to one department or service.
Pros: Run traces, logs, evaluations, version history, and token-use estimates bring operational review alongside agent creation.
Pros: Free self-hosting offers extensive product capacity and data-location control for teams able to run the stack.
Cons: Hobby stops at 5,000 runs per month, so a free cloud deployment cannot continue running once it reaches its cap.
Cons: Model usage is billed separately by providers, making subscription prices an incomplete measure of total cost.
Cons: Self-hosting requires the team to manage deployment, storage, the runner, upgrades, and backups.

Alternatives

For a more narrowly scoped prompt or evaluation need, these options may fit better:

Promptitude has a free plan with 2 users, 5 prompts, 2 assistants, 1 flow, 1 tool, 100 generations per month, and 200 tool calls per month; consider it when those smaller stated limits suit the job.
PromptWizard is a free project with API, desktop, and self-hosted platforms; consider it when a free option across those environments is the priority.
Google Cloud Agent Evaluation charges by input and output characters for computation-based metrics and also charges for model-based metrics; consider it when usage-based evaluation pricing suits your needs.
Latitude has a free Starter plan with 20K credits per month, 30-day data retention, unlimited seats, and general-channel Slack support; consider it when those credit and retention terms better match your workload.
MLflow Prompt Optimization is free and open source under Apache 2.0, with self-hosted or cloud-provider-managed options; consider it when prompt optimization is the focus.
PromptEval offers a free plan with 3 web evaluations per month, 10 API lint runs per month, and a library of up to 5 prompts; consider it for a limited prompt-evaluation workflow.
Promptic has a free plan for 1 user with 1 AI application, 200K credits per month, 14-day retention, and bring-your-own model keys; consider it if those single-user terms fit.
PromptLayer has a free plan with 5 users, 2.5k requests per month, 1 workspace, and 250 evaluation cell executions per month; consider it when those request and evaluation allowances are sufficient.

Verdict

Choose Agenta if your team wants agent creation, integrations, automation, and run oversight in one product, especially if self-hosting or Business-grade access controls matter. The main reasons to look elsewhere are the Hobby hard cap, separate model bills, or the operational burden of self-hosting; Pro and Business raise cloud capacity, but add a subscription before provider costs.
