Overview

Coverr offers thousands of free videos in HD MP4, with some footage in 4K. The catalog is aimed at creators, and Coverr says its videos have been downloaded more than five million times and viewed 1.1 million times each month. Its API also provides curated stock music and AI-generated media, extending its appeal beyond teams seeking a video library alone.

The royalty-free license allows commercial and non-commercial use of videos and music without attribution. That suits published work, but does not permit using the media to train AI algorithms, create AI models or datasets, or build a competing service. Registration may require a name and email address; Coverr also records browser, IP, usage, and device information. Its privacy policy describes generally accepted industry-standard protections but does not guarantee absolute security.

Key features

REST API and MCP access

Coverr offers full API access at 50 calls per hour on the free tier. The production tier raises the quota to 2,000 calls per hour and is intended for live applications, making it the more appropriate fit for deployed products. REST and an MCP server provide two integration routes. MCP compatibility includes Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and other MCP clients.

One API for stock video, stock music, and AI-generated media can simplify a workflow that would otherwise draw on separate sources. Enterprise solutions with custom rate limits, SLAs, and dedicated support are available on request. The legacy free-videos API documentation asks users to identify Coverr with a clickable logo, so API users should account for that attribution requirement when working with that API.

Media license

The no-attribution commercial license is useful for creators who want to publish without adding a credit. Its AI-training and competitive-service prohibitions are material constraints, however, particularly for teams building datasets, models, or a stock-media service.

Pricing

Coverr combines free access with subscriptions. The API free tier allows 50 calls per hour; its production tier allows 2,000 calls per hour. The broader plan lineup also includes AI credits, concurrent-task allowances, premium media, and production API access.

Plan	Price	Includes
Free	0.00 USD per free	1,000 AI credits
Basic	4.20 USD per month	20,000 AI credits, selected AI models, 1 concurrent task, 4K footage and WAV music, premium stock content, AI voiceover, music and SFX, Topaz upscaler, and Production API
Plus	6.60 USD per month	75,000 AI credits, all latest models, 3 concurrent tasks, 4K footage and WAV music, premium stock content, AI voiceover, music and SFX, Topaz upscaler, and Production API
Pro	10.80 USD per month	125,000 AI credits, all latest models, 6 concurrent tasks, 4K footage and WAV music, premium stock content, AI voiceover, music and SFX, AI Apps, and Production API
Ultimate	42.00 USD per month	500,000 AI credits, all latest models, 12 concurrent tasks, 4K footage and WAV music, premium stock content, AI voiceover, music and SFX, AI Apps, and Production API

Free is a low-commitment way to start, but its 1,000 AI credits are the stated allowance. Basic is the entry paid choice for users who can work with selected models and one concurrent task. Plus adds more credits, all latest models, and three concurrent tasks. Pro and Ultimate add AI Apps; Ultimate raises the allowance to 500,000 credits and 12 concurrent tasks for heavier parallel workloads. Enterprise solutions use custom rate limits and are available on request.

Platforms

Coverr supports web access and an API. The API is available through REST and an MCP server, with compatibility for MCP clients including Claude Desktop, Claude Code, and Cursor.

Who it's for

Coverr fits creators and product teams that need stock video and music, want AI-generated media in the same API workflow, and can work within the license restrictions. Its free API quota suits lighter use; a live application is better matched to the production tier's higher hourly allowance. Teams whose work depends on training AI on the media or building a competing service should choose another source.

Pros and cons

Pro: A commercial and non-commercial license without attribution makes the catalog practical for published projects.
Pro: REST and MCP access, with stock and AI-generated media together, gives builders multiple integration paths.
Pro: A free API tier and a production tier offer distinct quotas for lighter and live workloads.
Con: The license prohibits AI training, model or dataset creation, and competing services, limiting some developer use cases.
Con: The free API tier's 50 calls per hour is a modest ceiling for applications with sustained request volume.

Verdict

Choose Coverr if you are a creator or builder who wants a commercial-use stock catalog and API access to video, music, and AI media in one workflow. Its no-attribution license and REST/MCP options are strong practical advantages. Look elsewhere if your product needs media for AI training or a competing service, or if the free API's 50 calls per hour cannot support your workload.
