Overview

The library covers illustrations, clipart, vector graphics, 3D illustrations and animated illustrations. Assets can be customized in Mega Creator before download: artwork made from separate pieces can be recolored, changed and rearranged. That makes Ouch! a stronger fit for teams seeking adaptable assets than a library used only to retrieve finished images. Icons8 says its styles are consistent, which can help artwork from one style work together across a design.

Its reach goes beyond the browser library, with design plugins, desktop and mobile apps, and an API. The breadth is useful for teams with varied workflows, though account terms matter: each paid account is for one user, and teams must contact Icons8.

Key features

Editing and formats

Static assets are offered as PNG or SVG, and vector graphics are available in SVG. Animated illustrations come in Lottie JSON, Rive, After Effects project, GIF and MOV formats. The Illustrations plan includes SVG and large PNG for vectors, JSON, After Effects project and GIF for animations, plus FBX with textures. This mix suits projects that need artwork across design and motion workflows; buyers should check that their needed export is included in the plan they choose.

Integrations and API

Plugins cover Figma, Google Docs, Webflow, Photoshop, Illustrator, Miro and Lucid. Icons8 also offers an API for integrating illustrations into an app or website, with its engineers available to help with integration. That makes Ouch! relevant to product teams embedding artwork, not just designers downloading files. It is less compelling if a team needs shared paid seats under one account, since paid accounts are single-user.

Other access points

Icons8 lists Pichon and Lunacy desktop apps for Mac and Windows, and Lunacy for Linux. Face Swapper and GenYOU are listed for iOS and Android. The product page also links to a Help Center, forum and contact support.

Pricing

Ouch! uses a freemium model. The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and offers free illustrations with attribution required. Free access is limited to bitmap format, while Icons8 says its products are available at no cost for open-source projects. Free is a practical way to source artwork when attribution and bitmap output fit the project; it is a poor fit when vector exports or attribution-free use are requirements.

The Illustrations plan has custom pricing, billed monthly or yearly with 20% savings on yearly billing. It includes 25 downloads per month, then charges $0.80 per illustration, with extra downloads billed on the next bill. It also includes SVG and large PNG for vectors, JSON, After Effects project and GIF for animations, FBX with textures, desktop app and plugins, and use without attribution. The quota is a meaningful constraint for high-volume asset work, and each account covers one user. Unused downloads roll over, which can soften uneven usage, but does not remove the per-illustration overage charge.

AI and graphics has custom pricing, billed monthly or yearly with 20% savings on yearly billing. It includes everything in Illustrations, 100k AI credits (about 500 generated illustrations), AI generators and image editing, 100 icons and MCP access, 50 photos, Mega Creator AI and hand-drawn graphics. It suits users who need generation and editing alongside the illustration library, rather than just downloads.

Ultimate also has custom pricing, billed monthly or yearly with 20% savings on yearly billing. It includes everything in AI and graphics, 1M AI credits (about 5,000 generated illustrations) and unlimited graphics. It is aimed at users who need the broadest graphics access and a much larger AI-credit allowance. AI credits roll over, and paid plans include lifetime use without attribution. The product note also mentions a 7-day trial.

Platforms

Ouch! is listed for Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, Windows and web, as well as API and extension access. Its plugins span design and collaboration tools, while the desktop apps extend access beyond the browser. That range is useful when artwork needs to travel across a mixed device and software stack.

Who it's for

Ouch! is a strong option for designers who want to adjust illustrations before export, and for developers who need an API route into an app or website. It also fits teams working across static and animated assets or relying on the named design plugins. Free use can work for open-source projects or other work that accepts attribution and bitmap files. Teams needing multiple paid seats, or users whose monthly downloads regularly exceed 25, should weigh the account and overage terms before choosing the Illustrations plan.

Pros and cons

Pros: Mega Creator can recolor, change and rearrange illustrations made from separate pieces, so assets can be adapted before export.
Pros: Animated formats include Lottie JSON, Rive, After Effects project, GIF and MOV, offering several delivery options.
Pros: Plugins and API access connect the library to design tools and product integrations.
Pros: Paid plans allow use without attribution, and unused downloads and AI credits roll over.
Cons: Free use requires attribution and is limited to bitmap format, excluding vector output for that tier.
Cons: The Illustrations plan caps included downloads at 25 per month and charges $0.80 per extra illustration.
Cons: Paid accounts are single-user, so teams need to contact Icons8 rather than simply adding seats.

Alternatives

For API-first illustration access with a free tier, GetIllustrations offers 1,500 API calls per month and free assets, with premium assets shown as watermarked previews; it is a better fit when that API allowance and preview model suit the project.

Pixabay is a free media library with an API; full-resolution photo and video downloads require sign-up. Choose it when free media downloads matter more than Ouch!'s editable illustration workflow and animation formats.

Bigstock has paid daily image plans, including 5 images a day for 79.00 USD per month and 10 images a day for 99.00 USD per month. It is an alternative for buyers who prefer a daily image allowance over Ouch!'s illustration-focused plan.

Depositphotos is another freemium option with unlimited-download plans. Consider it when unlimited downloads are the priority.

Adobe Stock is a paid alternative with a free trial and plans built around standard assets and rollover credits; it may fit buyers seeking that asset-and-credit structure.

Dreamstime is a freemium alternative with image bundles ranging from 5 to 25 images.

iStock offers annual-plan options with 10 monthly downloads, including Basic at 29.00 USD per month and Premium at 70.00 USD per month. It suits buyers who prefer a fixed monthly download count under an annual plan.

Shutterstock is a paid alternative with image-download and unlimited-image plans; consider it when those plan types better match the asset workflow.

Verdict

Choose Ouch! if your work benefits from editable illustrations, multiple animation exports, design plugins or an API, especially when attribution-free paid use matters. Its main advantage is the combination of adaptable artwork and several routes into existing workflows. Look elsewhere if you need multiple paid seats on one account, unrestricted downloads at the Illustrations tier, or free vector files without attribution.
