Overview

SoSci Survey brings together logic branching, response analytics, custom branding, API access and a respondent panel. That combination supports structured research workflows, from shaping question paths to connecting survey work with other systems. The trade-off is a package model that ties respondent allowances to specific fielding periods, so it is less suitable when project volume or timing is hard to predict.

Key features

Logic branching: Direct respondents through different question paths based on their answers, useful for studies with distinct participant groups.
Response analytics: Review collected answers in the platform, supporting analysis without treating survey collection as the end of the workflow.
Custom branding: Adapt survey presentation to an organization’s identity, valuable when participant-facing consistency matters.
API access: Gives teams an integration path for connecting survey work to their existing systems.
Respondent panel: Provides a panel option for projects that need respondents, alongside the ability to run surveys with defined response allowances.

Pricing

The free options cover distinct needs: Unlimited Testing provides full functionality with testing available as long as desired, while Free for Research costs 0.00 USD per free and allows 5,000 respondents. The latter is a substantial allowance for no charge, though the paid packages make clear that respondent count and administration period are separate constraints for larger or time-bounded studies.

Paid packages are prepaid, carry no automatic renewal or subscription, and are plus tax. That gives teams control over repeat charges, but requires choosing a package again when a project needs more capacity or time.

Plan	Price	Allowance and term	Best fit
Small (1 month)	49.00 EUR per month	500 respondents; 1 month survey administration period	A short study capped at 500 respondents.
Small (12 months)	399.00 EUR per year	6,000 respondents; 12 months survey administration period	A longer project that can use a larger annual allowance.
Small (Long Term)	69.00 EUR per year	250 respondents; 12 months survey administration period	A low-volume project with a year to run.
Medium (1 month)	69.00 EUR per month	1,200 respondents; 1 month survey administration period	A one-month field period needing more capacity than Small.
Medium (12 months)	599.00 EUR per year	15,000 respondents; 12 months survey administration period	A year-long study with a mid-range annual allowance.
Medium (Long Term)	149.00 EUR per year	1,250 respondents; 12 months survey administration period	A lower-volume study that needs a full year.
Large (1 month)	99.00 EUR per month	2,500 respondents; 1 month survey administration period	A high-volume study with a short administration window.
Large (12 months)	699.00 EUR per year	30,000 respondents; 12 months survey administration period	A larger study that needs up to a year.
Large (Long-Term)	249.00 EUR per year	2,500 respondents; 12 months survey administration period	A year-long project capped at 2,500 respondents.

The Small, Medium and Large tiers are not a simple ladder: the one-month packages prioritize concentrated fielding, while the Long Term packages offer a year with smaller allowances than their 12-month counterparts. Match both dimensions to the study rather than choosing by price alone. The stated 500-response limit also makes it important to confirm the applicable cap when selecting a plan, since other packages explicitly carry different respondent allowances.

Platforms

SoSci Survey is listed with API platform support. API access is relevant for teams integrating survey workflows, while no other platform category is identified.

Who it's for

SoSci Survey is a strong fit for researchers and organizations running defined studies that need branching, analytics, branded surveys or panel access, especially when prepaid terms are preferable to an automatically renewing subscription. It is less compelling for teams that cannot estimate respondent volume or fielding duration in advance, because package selection is bounded by both.

Pros and cons

Pro: Research functionality in one service. Branching, analytics, branding, API access and a respondent panel address several needs of structured survey projects.
Pro: Flexible prepaid durations. One-month and 12-month choices, plus Long Term packages, let buyers align purchase length with project timing.
Pro: No automatic renewal on paid packages. Teams avoid an ongoing subscription charge after a prepaid purchase.
Con: Package sizing takes care. Respondent allowance and administration period both matter, and the Long Term tiers have lower respondent counts than the corresponding annual tiers.
Con: Paid prices are plus tax. The listed amounts are not the full tax-inclusive cost.
Con: The stated response limit is 500. That cap may not align with projects relying on the larger allowances named for particular packages, so buyers should verify which limit applies to their selection.

Alternatives

Market Research Software and Survey Software are useful starting points for comparing options across those categories.

LimeSurvey is worth considering if self-hosting matters to your stack; its free plan includes 25 responses per month and one admin user.
Qualtrics may suit an individual who can work within its free plan of one user, three active surveys, 30 questions per survey and 500 total responses.
Alchemer is another freemium survey option with a free plan.
Conjointly is an alternative with a free plan and free trial; its Basic plan includes unlimited surveys and questions, with 20 responses for advanced methods.
DataLion may suit a small project needing a free forever tier, with one user, one project and 100 cases.
Displayr offers a free tier with limited analysis and visualization tools, dashboard-style reports and small datasets.
Surveti is another freemium API option; its free tier includes one seat, 100 completes, 1,000 AI credits and 1 GB storage.
SurveyLab may fit a team wanting a free tier capped at 50 total responses or a Starter plan with 1,000 responses per month.

Verdict

Choose SoSci Survey for research projects that benefit from branching, analytics and panel access, with prepaid packages that do not renew automatically. Its chief advantage is the range of research capabilities paired with options for different study sizes and durations; look elsewhere if your project needs an uncapped or predictably recurring response allowance without package planning.
