Overview

The platform combines a 3D viewer, configurator, customer customizer, Designer workspace, and 3D Model Generator. Shoppers can add graphics, text, QR codes, or patterns, as well as choose preset attributes such as size, color, and material. That makes it a fit for products where customer input is part of the purchase, rather than a viewing-only use case.

Interactive 3D previews and mobile AR let customers examine a design without installing an app. Alter Product was founded in June 2023; its first public beta launched in February 2025.

Key features

Personalization and 3D: Combining freeform artwork with preset options supports varied product workflows, while previews connect the design step to the product’s appearance.
Print exports: PNG, SVG, and PDF exports can be set to 72, 150, 200, or 300 DPI. This suits teams that need downloadable production artwork as well as an online configurator.
Commerce and fulfillment: A WordPress and WooCommerce plugin can connect to Printify or Printful for print-on-demand fulfillment. The platform also supports Shopify, Webflow, Wix, and Squarespace, and offers a Public API for custom, headless, or order-management integrations.
AI image generation: Users can connect their own OpenAI or Google Gemini API key. The provider bills image generation directly, so this usage sits outside Alter Product’s subscription cost.
Data and privacy controls: Embedded or local-storage setups keep assets and design data on the customer’s server. Users can delete their account in the application; the privacy policy describes rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, and object to processing.

Pricing

The free plan and 14-day trial offer a way to assess the platform, but free access is not a route to store embedding. Custom 3D model creation is an additional service rather than a standard subscription inclusion.

Plan	Price	What it includes and who it fits
Personal FREE	Custom pricing	Three saved Designer projects and 10 saved 3D Model Generator projects. With no embedded sessions or Customizers, it is suitable for limited project work, not a live embedded store workflow.
Personal	14.99 EUR per month	20 saved Designer projects, 30 saved 3D Model Generator projects, mockup generation, and print-ready PDF, SVG, and PNG exports. It fits individual work focused on design and export, but does not include store embedding.
Business	149.00 EUR per month	50 saved Designer projects, 100 saved 3D Model Generator projects, two active Customizers, 100 000 monthly embedded sessions, website embedding, and branding. This is the entry point for teams putting a customizer on a store; the session quota and two-Customizer cap matter when planning scale or multiple product lines.
Enterprise	Custom pricing	Dedicated servers, extended resources, complex onboarding support, and a custom API. Personalized support may also be included, making it the option for businesses with more demanding infrastructure or onboarding needs.

Platforms

Alter Product is available on web and through an API, with web embedding for eligible plans. Its commerce connections span Shopify, WooCommerce, Webflow, Wix, and Squarespace; the WordPress and WooCommerce plugin can also connect to Printify or Printful.

Who it's for

Alter Product is strongest for e-commerce stores, print-on-demand businesses, manufacturers, and creators that need customer personalization, 3D presentation, and printable output in one workflow. Teams should look elsewhere if they need embedded customization but cannot justify Business pricing, or if they expect custom 3D models to be included in the subscription.

Pros and cons

Pro: Customer artwork, preset options, 3D previews, and mobile AR cover both customization and product presentation.
Pro: Multiple export formats and DPI settings suit workflows that need design files for production.
Pro: WooCommerce and WordPress support plus Printify and Printful connections make it relevant to print-on-demand operations.
Con: Store embedding is restricted to Business or higher, so the lower-cost plans cannot serve as a live embedded customizer.
Con: Business limits use to two active Customizers and 100 000 monthly embedded sessions.
Con: Custom 3D model creation is a separate service, and AI image generation is billed by the connected provider.

Alternatives

For a wider comparison, browse 3D Product Configurator Software.

3DBAE is a freemium option with a free Hobby plan that includes 100 MB storage and one project, but no AI credits; consider it when a small, free starting allocation matters.
Twikit offers a paid platform with pricing not listed; it is an alternative for teams prepared to contact the maker or book a demo.
ShapeDiver has a free plan and a Startup option from 199.00 EUR per month with an annual plan; consider it when a credit-based plan and computation limit suit the workflow.
ConfigOne offers a SaaS plan starting at 499.00 PLN per month, billed monthly after implementation for one product line; it may suit teams seeking that implementation-based arrangement.
Cylindo uses quote-based pricing tailored to business needs, catalog size, and sales channels; it is an option for teams that prefer a tailored commercial proposal.
Maxameter costs 4500.00 SEK per month on a standard 12-month term after implementation, then month-to-month; consider it when that industrial configurator offering and commitment structure fit.
Roomle offers a 3D Viewer plan at 170.00 EUR per month with 150 product uploads monthly, 120 000 views per year, and one platform; it may suit teams focused on a bounded viewer deployment.
Threekit is a paid, custom-priced platform; it is an alternative for teams seeking a tailored commercial offer.

Verdict

Choose Alter Product if your commerce workflow needs customer-designed products, printable exports, and embedded 3D presentation in one platform. Its strongest case is the link between personalization and production output, especially for print-on-demand. Look elsewhere if embedding must be affordable below Business, or if custom 3D model creation needs to come with the subscription.
