Overview

Altered Studio is a voice-production platform for transforming, generating and refining speech, for creators and teams working with both recordings and live audio. Its breadth is the draw; the Windows GPU requirement and lack of mobile support narrow where it fits.

Key features

Voice transformation and production

Speech-to-Speech, Performance-to-Performance morphing changes a speaker’s voice while preserving their delivery. That is useful when the performance matters as much as the sound of the voice. Text-to-speech, voice cloning, voice cleaning, denoising, editing, DSP effects and batch processing make Studio a broader production toolkit than a standalone voice changer. It supports recorded-audio changes and export as well as real-time voice changes.

Rapid Voice Clone uses 4–8 seconds of audio, lowering the amount of source material needed to create a local clone. Custom voice models require contacting Altered, so teams seeking a bespoke model should expect a sales conversation rather than a self-serve setup.

Languages and integrations

Transcription and translation cover 75+ languages; text-to-speech voice-over covers 70+. These separate ranges make Studio relevant to multilingual workflows, but they do not imply identical language coverage across every task. The online Voice Editor can use audio files in Google Drive, with Drive access optional. RealTime Pro routes audio through a virtual microphone to apps including Discord, Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet.

Altered says RealTime Pro processes locally on the PC and keeps voice data there. Enterprise customers can also use cloud computing. The company says it takes measures against illegal or harmful use and may refuse to license or sell to clients when their conduct or intentions are unclear.

Pricing

Plan	Price	What it includes
Free	0.00 USD per free	3 minutes/month of voice morphing, 10,000 AI Tokens, local voice cloning and an attribution license. Noncommercial use requires credit.
Creator	30.00 USD per month, billed annually	60 minutes/month of voice morphing, 325,000 AI tokens, local voice cloning, accent morphing and speaking-style morphing.
Professional	90.00 USD per month, billed annually	180 minutes/month of voice morphing, 1,000,000 AI tokens, unlimited local morphing, flexible and performance morphing, and 48kHz sample-rate output.
Enterprise	Custom pricing	Unlimited voice morphing and tokens, custom voice models, API access, multiple seats and a dedicated account manager.

The free tier is useful for a small, noncommercial trial of the workflow, but three morphing minutes a month make it unsuitable for regular production. Creator raises that allowance to 60 minutes and adds accent and speaking-style morphing; its annual billing is a meaningful commitment. Professional triples Creator’s morphing minutes and adds unlimited local morphing and higher sample-rate output, better suited to sustained production. Enterprise is the fit for teams needing API integration, multiple seats or custom models, but its price is custom.

A 7-day trial is also offered. API access is an Enterprise feature, not a general route for integrating lower-tier plans into other systems.

Platforms

Studio supports macOS, Windows, web and API access. The desktop version requires a Windows PC with an 8GB+ Nvidia GPU, while mobile devices are not currently supported. That makes hardware and device choice an early fit check, especially for teams expecting phone-based use.

Who it's for

Podcasters, video game studios and eLearning teams are among the audiences Altered names. Studio is strongest for users who need voice transformation alongside editing, cleanup or synthesis, or who need a live virtual-microphone workflow. It is a weaker fit for mobile-first teams, anyone without the required Windows desktop hardware, or buyers who only need a simple speech-generation tool.

Pros and cons

Pros: Morphing preserves speaker performance, and the same toolkit covers recorded and real-time audio.
Pros: Rapid Voice Clone needs only 4–8 seconds of audio; transcription and translation span 75+ languages.
Pros: RealTime Pro works with major meeting and chat apps through a virtual microphone, and Altered says processing stays local on the PC.
Cons: The free plan allows only 3 minutes/month of morphing and requires credit for noncommercial use.
Cons: Desktop use requires a Windows PC with an 8GB+ Nvidia GPU, and mobile is unsupported.
Cons: API access and custom voice models are limited to Enterprise, whose price is custom.

Alternatives

For a different mix of voice tools and platform options, compare Fish Audio, a freemium service with Linux and self-hosted support as well as web and desktop platforms. GPT-SoVITS is a free option with API, Linux and self-hosted platform support. Voice.ai offers a free plan and supports Android and iOS as well as desktop and web platforms, making it worth considering when mobile access matters.

Voicebox is another freemium alternative, while VoiceStudio is free. PlayHT has a free tier with 10,000 credits/month, one voice-clone slot and one team seat, and supports web and API access. Wavel AI offers API access and a 7-day trial with one-time credits. Murf AI has a free tier with 10 projects and 10 minutes of voice generation, but no downloads.

Verdict

Altered Studio is a strong choice for creators and teams that need voice morphing, production tools and real-time routing in one platform, especially when preserving a speaker’s performance matters. Choose it if the desktop requirements and plan quotas fit your workflow; look elsewhere if mobile support, broad API access on a lower tier or a larger free morphing allowance is essential.
