Overview

Backupper combines computer and server backup with disk cloning, bootable media, and restore to dissimilar hardware. That makes it a more considered choice for teams handling recovery or machine migration as well as routine backups. Ransomware protection is another part of the package, though it does not change the central constraint: the supported operating system is Windows.

Backup scope and restore modes are both mixed, indicating more than one approach in each area. The product’s range suits users who need options, but the labels alone do not establish which method will suit a particular recovery job.

Key features

Backup and recovery

Computer backup covers the individual PC use case, while server backup extends Backupper to infrastructure beyond desktops. That broader capability is relevant to small teams and service providers, but server use requires a server plan rather than the free Standard edition. Bootable media offers a recovery route outside the installed system, and dissimilar-hardware restore matters when the replacement target differs from the original machine.

Cloning and deployment

Disk cloning gives Backupper a role in moving or reproducing disk contents, not just retaining backups. Network deployment is also supported, which may be useful in environments where machines are managed across a network. These capabilities strengthen its fit for Windows administration work; buyers who need broad operating-system coverage should look elsewhere.

Pricing

The pricing structure starts with a permanently free option and scales through per-PC, workstation, server, and technician licenses. Seat counts matter: the individual plans cover one PC or one server, while team and family options cover five PCs and the Server SMB Lifetime plan covers three servers. The technician plans allow unlimited PCs for one technician, making them a different proposition from licenses for a fixed fleet.

Standard: 0.00 USD per free, perpetually free of charge. It covers Windows PC backup, making it a reasonable starting point for an individual, but it does not provide the paid plans’ broader license scopes.
Professional Yearly: 39.95 USD per year, automatic renewal, cancel anytime; 1 PC. A modest annual commitment for one-PC use, but not a fleet license.
Professional Lifetime: 69.95 USD per month, one-time payment; 1 PC. The plan is presented as a one-time payment despite its monthly amount, so buyers should distinguish the payment term from the displayed price unit.
Professional Family Lifetime: custom pricing; 5 PCs. It suits a household or small set of personal machines that exceeds the single-PC plan.
Workstation Yearly: 49.95 USD per year, automatic renewal, cancel anytime; 1 PC. The workstation tier costs more than Professional Yearly for the same stated seat count, so its case rests on needing the workstation license category.
Workstation Lifetime: 79.95 USD per month, one-time payment; 1 PC. As with Professional Lifetime, the monthly amount and one-time-payment term do not align intuitively.
Workstation Team Lifetime: custom pricing; 5 PCs. This is the multi-PC workstation option for a team that does not need the unlimited-PC technician license.
Server Yearly: 149.00 USD per year, automatic renewal, cancel anytime; 1 server. It is the annual route for a single server.
Server Lifetime: 299.00 USD per month, one-time payment; 1 server. The displayed monthly amount alongside a one-time-payment term warrants close attention before purchase.
Server SMB Lifetime: 399.00 USD per month, one-time payment; 3 servers. It extends the lifetime server scope to three servers, with the same pricing presentation caveat.
Technician Yearly: 499.00 USD per year, automatic renewal, cancel anytime; unlimited PCs for 1 technician. This is the clearest fit for a technician responsible for many PCs, rather than a team licensing a fixed number of machines.
Technician Lifetime: 799.00 USD per month, one-time payment; unlimited PCs for 1 technician. It offers the same stated device and technician scope without annual renewal, but the displayed amount is monthly despite the one-time term.

Platforms

Backupper supports Windows. Bootable media and restore to dissimilar hardware broaden recovery options within that platform, but they do not make the product a cross-platform backup choice.

Who it's for

Backupper is a strong fit for Windows users who want backup and disk cloning in one product, especially where recovery may involve bootable media or different hardware. Standard makes sense for a single Windows PC when PC backup is sufficient. Paid plans are more relevant to teams with a defined workstation or server count, while the unlimited-PC technician tier targets service work under one technician license.

It is a weaker fit for organizations that need Linux or macOS support, or buyers who want a free plan to cover servers. The one-time lifetime plans also deserve extra price-term scrutiny because their amounts are shown per month even though the billing term is one-time.

Pros and cons

Pros: Combines computer and server backup with disk cloning, bootable media, and dissimilar-hardware restore, so it can address backup and recovery tasks beyond a single PC image.
Pros: Licensing spans one PC, five-PC, one-server, three-server, and unlimited-PC technician scopes, which gives teams several ways to match the license to the work.
Cons: Windows-only support rules it out for mixed-platform environments that need one backup tool across operating systems.
Cons: Standard is limited to Windows PC backup, leaving server backup to paid plans.
Cons: Lifetime plans display monthly amounts alongside one-time-payment terms, which makes the stated price harder to interpret at a glance.

Alternatives

For disk-focused work, the Disk Cloning Software and Disk Imaging Software lists are useful starting points; teams planning machine rollout can also consult OS Deployment Software. For broader backup selection, see Backup software or, for network storage needs, NAS Backup Software.

HDClone is worth considering when Linux or self-hosted support matters, or when private use fits its free edition’s 4 TB and 70 MB/s caps; its Basic Edition is a paid alternative for up to two PCs.

Lazesoft Recovery Suite suits a home user seeking recovery, password, and disk-image or clone tools under a non-commercial home-use plan. Clonezilla is the stronger fit for readers who prioritize free and open-source software across Linux, macOS, Windows, and self-hosted use.

Lazesoft Disk Image & Clone is an option for a Windows household wanting free personal, non-commercial use on up to three PCs, or a business buyer seeking its one-time Professional Edition. Redo Rescue is a free, GPLv3 option for readers who value code they can audit, modify, and copy.

Rescuezilla suits users who want a free tool launched from bootable USB or CD-ROM without a license or serial number. Casper is another Windows cloning alternative with a free trial. doClone is a free Linux alternative.

Verdict

Choose AOMEI Backupper if your work is Windows-based and you want one product spanning PC or server backup, cloning, and recovery, with licensing that can scale from a single machine to a technician’s unlimited-PC scope. Its main weakness is the Windows-only boundary, compounded by a free plan that stops at PC backup and lifetime prices whose monthly display conflicts with their one-time terms. Mixed-platform teams and buyers who need a straightforward free server option should look elsewhere.
