Overview

Votinova brings live audience participation into slide-led sessions, with voting, quizzes and moderated Q&A alongside imported presentations. It is a strong fit for educators, trainers and meeting or event hosts who need a broad response toolkit and developer integration; its small free-session cap makes it less suitable for larger recurring sessions without a paid plan.

The combination of presentation support, anonymous participation and a public API is compelling. The trade-off is a tier structure where audience size, simultaneous sessions and AI usage differ materially, so the right plan depends on both event scale and how often teams run sessions.

Key features

Presenters can import PowerPoint decks while retaining design and animations, or connect Google Slides. That makes Votinova a better fit for teams that want interaction within an existing presentation workflow than for those seeking a polling tool detached from slides. Its 16 question types include polls, scales, ranking, word clouds, quizzes, NPS and open answers; the free plan includes only six, limiting experimentation until an upgrade.

Participants join by code or QR from a phone without an account or app installation, reducing audience setup friction. They can respond anonymously, and in moderated Q&A they can submit and upvote questions while the presenter controls what appears onscreen. These controls suit sessions where audience input matters but presenters need to manage what is surfaced.

Votinova AI generates questions from presentation content and summarizes open responses, with structural anonymity. The Pro plan includes 250 AI credits a month, making that tier relevant to teams that expect regular AI use. Add-ins are listed for PowerPoint, Google Slides, Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Webex. The developer offering includes a public REST API with an OpenAPI spec, webhooks, an MCP server, and Zapier and Power Automate connectors; this depth is useful for teams integrating participation into existing workflows. Data is hosted and processed in the EU, communications use TLS, and stored database and backup data are encrypted at rest. Published VPAT 2.5 conformance reports cover WCAG 2.2 AA for presenter and participant roles.

Pricing

The Free plan costs 0.00 EUR per free and allows 50 participants per session, six question types and one simultaneous session. It is a sensible starting point for small, occasional sessions, but the participant ceiling and single-session allowance constrain larger events and concurrent use.

Starter costs 9.00 EUR per month and raises capacity to 1,000 participants, unlocks all 16 question types and allows two simultaneous sessions, with email support. It is the clearest step up for a single presenter or small operation that has outgrown the free cap. Pro costs 24.00 EUR per month, billed 288 €/year, and includes 2,000 participants per session plus metered overage, three simultaneous sessions, 250 AI credits a month and email support. It fits teams needing more concurrent sessions or AI assistance, though metered overage means capacity can affect the bill.

Team costs 24.00 EUR per month and supports 5,000 participants per session, two simultaneous sessions per seat, team spaces, LMS (LTI 1.3) and priority support. Its per-seat concurrency and LMS support make it a better match for multi-presenter or education use than Pro, while the plan's listed price is the same monthly amount. Enterprise has custom pricing and adds SSO/SCIM, an own domain, audit log, custom capacity and dedicated support.

For a time-bounded event, Event pass M costs 449.00 EUR per month, billed one-off for 14 days, with 5,000 participants. Custom event pass has custom pricing, is also billed one-off for 14 days, and supports more than 5,000 participants with custom capacity. Those passes target events rather than ongoing use. The pricing FAQ says the team replies in under 24 hours; plan support ranges from community and email to priority and dedicated support with SLA by tier.

Platforms

Votinova is available on web, Android and iOS, and offers an API. The listed presentation add-ins and connectors extend it into common slide, meeting and automation workflows, which is valuable when participation needs to sit within an existing stack rather than require a separate event process.

Who it's for

Votinova suits classrooms, training, business meetings, conferences and events where presenters want audience input integrated with slides. The free tier is best for small pilots; Starter suits moderate sessions, while Team or an event pass is more appropriate for larger audiences. Teams that need enterprise identity controls or custom capacity should consider Enterprise. It is less compelling for a group that only needs occasional small polls and has no need for slide integration, moderated Q&A or API connections.

Pros and cons

Pros: PowerPoint and Google Slides support, 16 response formats, anonymous participation and moderated, upvoted Q&A cover a wide range of live-session needs.
Pros: Public REST API, OpenAPI spec, webhooks and MCP server provide integration options beyond the presentation add-ins.
Pros: Published accessibility conformance reports and EU data hosting and processing are relevant for organizations with accessibility and data-location requirements.
Cons: The free plan's 50 participants, six question types and one simultaneous session make it a limited option for regular or larger use.
Cons: Pro's 2,000-person capacity includes metered overage, so usage beyond the included audience can add cost.
Cons: Team and Pro are both 24.00 EUR per month but prioritize different needs; buyers should compare Team's per-seat concurrency and LMS features with Pro's AI credits and three simultaneous sessions.

Alternatives

Pigeonhole Live is worth considering for teams focused on Q&A, polls, chats and surveys: its free Starter plan supports 100 participants and one user, with unlimited activity types in those categories. PollsLive is another polling-focused option, particularly for a presenter whose use fits its free allowance of three published polls, 500 responses per poll, three live participants and three live sessions per month.

XTriv may suit users who prefer a credit-based free plan with unlimited sessions and all question types. Jackpoll is an alternative for teams prioritizing a free, open-source option with public frontend, API and deployment stacks under the MIT licence. Poll Everywhere may fit teams that need desktop platform coverage, including macOS and Windows, or want a free audience allowance of 40, with a temporary 700-person allowance for 30 days.

VSE Platform is a different fit for production-led events: its Broadcast plan starts at 1750.00 GBP per month, from £1,750 +VAT per event, and includes studio or cloud gallery production alongside moderated Q&A, polls and reactions. QuestionPro is more survey-oriented, with a free Essentials plan for one user and 200 responses per survey, making it a reasonable alternative when survey response quotas matter more than live slide participation. Vevox is another web-based option; its free plan supports 100 participants and one user.

Verdict

Choose Votinova if your team wants audience voting and moderated questions built around presentations, with a public API for fitting the service into an existing stack. Its strongest case is the breadth of interaction and integration options; its main drawback is that free use is capped at 50 participants and larger sessions require a paid plan. Teams needing a lightweight polling tool, or a free option for bigger audiences, should compare alternatives before committing.
