Overview

OptiMonk is an AI-assisted tool for building and measuring ecommerce campaigns on a website. It suits teams that want to tailor offers to visitor behavior and track sales outcomes. Its central trade-off is that pageview limits apply across the site, whether or not a campaign appears.

Key features

The AI agent can design, write, and publish popups from a description, then run A/B tests and learn from visitor responses. It can offer to roll out a winning version, helping teams move from campaign creation to iteration without treating each step as a separate manual task. AI credits limit that work, so higher-volume teams should compare allowances before choosing a plan.

Campaign formats include popups, embedded content, sticky bars, surveys, gamification, and multi-step flows. Targeting by country, cookies, traffic source, cart contents, and browsing behavior supports more relevant offers than a single message shown to every visitor. Reporting connects campaigns with conversions, attributed revenue, average order value, and orders, giving teams sales measures alongside response data.

Connections include Shopify, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, Google Analytics, Zapier, and webhooks. Every plan includes MCP connections for building, editing, and publishing popups from Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor. That makes the product accessible through AI assistants across plan tiers, though the same plan quotas still apply. Live chat is included on every plan; OptiMonk says it usually answers within three minutes and is available in several languages. Campaigns run on Amazon Web Services, with 99.9% uptime cited for campaigns.

Pricing

OptiMonk has a free plan and paid plans from 19.00 USD per month, billed yearly. There is no time-limited trial: Free does not expire and requires no credit card. The important limit is pageviews: each page load counts, even if no campaign is displayed, and campaigns pause when the monthly allowance is reached.

Free: 0.00 USD per free, forever, with 10,000 pageviews per month, 1,000 AI credits per month, and one domain. It is a sensible starting point for a small site, but the pageview cap can interrupt campaigns as traffic grows.
Essential: 19.00 USD per month, billed $228 billed yearly, with 20,000 pageviews per month, 3,000 AI credits per month, and two domains. It suits a small operation that needs more room than Free, but the doubled pageview allowance remains modest for busier sites.
Growth: 69.00 USD per month, billed $828 billed yearly, with 100,000 pageviews per month, 10,000 AI credits per month, and four domains. This is the more practical tier for teams running campaigns across several properties or serving higher traffic.
Premium: 179.00 USD per month, billed $2,148 billed yearly, with 500,000 pageviews per month, 20,000 AI credits per month, 10 domains, and a key account manager. It provides substantially more operating headroom and named account support, but teams should still check that their traffic fits the cap.
Master: custom pricing, with custom pageviews and AI credits, unlimited domains, and a key account manager. It fits organizations whose needs exceed fixed tiers or require flexible quotas.

All plans include the MCP connections and live chat support. The plan comparison gives quotas and domains rather than seat counts, so the listed distinctions are usage capacity and site coverage.

Platforms

OptiMonk supports web and API platforms. Its website campaign focus makes it a fit for teams working on onsite conversion rather than a tool for managing campaigns across a broader set of listed platforms.

Who it's for

OptiMonk is best suited to ecommerce teams that want to create targeted onsite campaigns, test variations, and connect campaign activity to revenue and orders. Its broad campaign formats and integrations make it useful for teams already working with ecommerce and email tools such as Shopify and Klaviyo. It is less compelling for sites whose traffic is likely to exceed a fixed pageview allowance or for teams that need seat-based plan distinctions.

Pros and cons

Pros: Campaign types extend beyond popups, while targeting options can reflect visitor and cart context.
Pros: Reporting includes revenue, average order value, and orders, supporting decisions based on sales outcomes.
Pros: MCP access, live chat, and a free plan are included across the entry point, giving teams a way to start without a trial deadline.
Cons: Pageviews count every site page load, not just campaign displays; reaching the cap pauses campaigns, so the effective limit can arrive sooner than campaign impressions suggest.
Cons: AI credits and pageview allowances vary by plan, requiring teams to monitor two separate usage ceilings.
Cons: Paid plan prices are stated on yearly billing terms, a commitment to account for when moving beyond Free.

Alternatives

Consider ConvertFlow if its free plan's five funnel campaigns and previews and testing match your needs; integrations require a paid plan, unlike OptiMonk's listed connections. Picreel is worth comparing if a free allowance of up to 5,000 pageviews per month with unlimited campaigns, domains, and popups better fits a smaller site. Poptin offers a free plan measured by visitors, with one domain, unlimited poptins, 250 active contacts, and 500 emails, which may suit teams prioritizing those contact and email allowances. PopupForge is an option for teams seeking broad platform coverage, including mobile, desktop, and self-hosted, with a free plan capped at one website and one modal. Smush is an alternative with API platform support and paid tiers organized around site count and CDN bandwidth. Promolayer may suit teams comparing a web-focused option with an annual Basic plan priced at 2083.00 JPY per month and 15K monthly impressions. Appocalypsis offers a free web plan with limited functionality. BDOW! is another free-plan option, with a stated allowance of one site, 100 conversions, and 500 emails per month plus visitor targeting and analytics.

Verdict

OptiMonk is a strong choice for ecommerce teams that want AI-assisted campaign creation, visitor targeting, and revenue-focused reporting in one web tool. Its combination of campaign formats, integrations, and MCP access is the main reason to choose it. Look elsewhere if your site traffic makes a fixed monthly pageview cap risky: campaigns pause at the limit, even when page loads do not display them.
