Overview

AssetGather uses RFID reader, sensor and GPS data to update asset records and raise alerts when conditions change. Dashboards, reporting, movement history and utilization analytics help teams investigate where assets go and how they are used; missing-item alerts can bring exceptions to attention between inventory audits. The platform targets laboratories, manufacturing floors, warehouses, field operations and government organizations, including large enterprises.

AssetGather Server runs as cloud-hosted SaaS or under an on-premises license. That flexibility can accommodate different infrastructure requirements, though the combined hardware and software scope is likely more than a small team needs if it only wants basic inventory records.

Key features

Rules and alerts act on changing tracking data, while asset history and read-event analytics give teams context for following up on movement or missing items. Role-based access controls support differentiated access, and utilization analytics and reporting help operational teams review asset use. The EULA says AssetPulse maintains administrative, physical and technical safeguards for customer data and will notify customers without undue delay after learning of a security incident affecting it.

Handheld and smartphone apps cover audits, check-in/check-out, reconciliation, tagging, maintenance checklists and work-order updates. Because the apps can work offline and batch-sync later, field teams can continue recording updates where connectivity is unreliable. That is a practical advantage for distributed operations, although the value depends on adopting the associated readers, tags and workflows.

AssetPulse describes ERP and CMMS integration, and says its API or webhooks can connect with SAP, Oracle and other enterprise systems. This gives teams a route to fit asset data into existing processes, but buyers should establish which connections their specific deployment requires.

Pricing

AssetPulse uses a paid model with custom pricing. The trial is offered as rental options that include readers and tags; there is no standard trial length. This lets prospective buyers evaluate the hardware-and-software setup, but it is less straightforward than a fixed-duration software trial. No free plan or published seat, quota, renewal or trial term is provided in the pricing offer.

AssetPulse advertises consultations and live demos, and provides contact by phone at (408) 872-3104 and email at info@assetpulse.com. Buyers should use that conversation to confirm costs, trial terms and the hardware required for their workflows.

Platforms

AssetGather supports Android, iOS, web, API access and self-hosted deployment. The combination suits organizations that need mobile field work alongside server-based administration, while on-premises licensing offers an alternative to cloud hosting.

Who it's for

AssetGather is a stronger fit for laboratories, warehouses, manufacturing operations, field teams and government organizations that need to track assets across sites, perform offline audits or connect inventory processes to ERP and CMMS systems. Teams seeking simple, inexpensive tracking without dedicated hardware or enterprise integration needs should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pro: Offline mobile and handheld workflows can keep audits, maintenance updates and check-in/check-out moving when connectivity is unavailable.
Pro: Cloud SaaS and on-premises licensing give infrastructure teams a meaningful deployment choice.
Pro: API and webhook connections, alongside stated ERP and CMMS integration, support fit with established enterprise systems.
Con: Custom pricing and a rental-based trial with no standard duration make early budget and evaluation planning less predictable.
Con: The platform's hardware-plus-software approach may be excessive for small teams that need only basic inventory tracking.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, see the RFID Software category. OpenRFID Middleware is the alternative to consider when a free, open-source option is the priority. TagMatiks may suit buyers who want a free entry point, with separate free plans capped at 500 scans or 99 active assets. Nedap iD Cloud is another paid option with Android, iOS, API and web support.

RFTrack is worth considering for buyers choosing between on-premise licensing and an on-demand option. RTI eP360 may fit high-volume customers looking for a per-successful-asset-trip price and premium reporting. Senitron Athena is another paid alternative. Sensormatic TrueVUE Cloud offers SaaS or deployment on a retailer's cloud platform. Xemelgo Inventory Management is another paid option.

Verdict

AssetGather is a sound choice for larger, operationally complex organizations that need connected asset tracking, offline field workflows and a choice of cloud or on-premises deployment. Its main reason to choose it is the breadth of hardware, mobile and integration workflows in one platform. Look elsewhere if predictable upfront pricing, a standard trial period or basic software-only inventory tracking matters more.
