Overview

Autonoma connects test planning and execution to the development workflow: its Planner CLI explores a codebase, maps pages, user flows, and edge cases, then drafts a natural-language test plan. Agents use real browsers to navigate flows, click controls, fill forms, and test the UI. This approach can reduce the burden of writing and maintaining test code, but it does not eliminate setup work: Autonoma reads repository code through a GitHub App, and its Environment Factory depends on customer-provided functions to create and remove test data.

Runs can target preview deployments, with results reported on the pull request. That makes the product particularly relevant to teams that already create previews for changes and want test results in the review loop. Teams without preview environments or reliable test-data setup may need to establish those foundations first.

Key features

Planning and browser execution: The Planner CLI maps app structure and proposes a test plan; AI agents then interact with the app through a real browser.
Pull request testing: Tests run against preview deployments and post results to pull requests. This keeps regression feedback close to code review rather than in a separate testing workflow.
Test data controls: The Environment Factory calls customer-provided create and teardown functions. That gives teams control over seeding and cleanup, but leaves implementation of those functions to them.
Stack coverage: Autonoma supports web and mobile apps accessible by URL or device, including React, Next.js, Vue, Angular, Flutter, React Native, and Swift. The listed integrations also include GitHub, Vercel, and Linear. This breadth suits mixed app stacks, while the central workflow still depends on GitHub repository access.
Security and access: The company states that it has SOC 2 Type II certification, annual audits, continuous vulnerability scanning, and isolated tenant execution. It says source code, environment variables, and test artifacts are encrypted at rest with AES-256 and in transit with TLS 1.3, and that application data is not stored persistently beyond test execution. SSO supports Okta, Google Workspace, Azure AD, or any SAML provider; enterprise VPC peering can keep test traffic inside a private network or AWS VPC. These controls address meaningful enterprise concerns, though repository access remains a necessary part of the product's operation.

Pricing

Autonoma offers two distinct ways to pay, alongside a hosted credit allowance. The Self-hosted plan is 0.00 USD per free and is described as free forever, with no limits or usage costs; it runs on the customer's infrastructure. This is the strongest fit for teams able to operate the platform themselves or that need to keep execution in their own environment.

The hosted Free & pay as you go plan is also 0.00 USD per free, with 100K free credits and a charge of $100 per 150K credits after free credits. There is no minimum commitment, auto top-up is optional, and no credit card is required. It includes unlimited users, Slack channel integration, and priority support. This makes it possible to start without a paid commitment, but teams with sustained hosted usage must account for credit consumption and the stated post-free rate. A paid tier beyond this usage-based plan is custom pricing.

Platforms

Autonoma is offered through an API, a web platform, and self-hosted deployment. Its test scope covers web, mobile, end-to-end, and UI testing, with a hybrid execution mode. The self-hosted option removes usage costs but transfers infrastructure operation to the customer; hosted usage avoids that deployment responsibility but draws on credits.

Who it's for

Autonoma is a good match for product and engineering teams that use GitHub, deploy previews, and want AI-generated user-flow checks to appear in pull requests. It is also compelling for organizations that can host the platform themselves and want no feature or usage limits. Teams that cannot grant a GitHub App repository access, or cannot provide the test-data functions their apps need, are less likely to get a smooth fit. Hosted teams with predictable high usage should weigh the credit rate against self-hosting before committing.

Pros and cons

Pro: Natural-language planning and browser-based UI testing can cover user flows without requiring teams to author test code.
Pro: Preview-deployment runs report results on pull requests, aligning regression feedback with code review.
Pro: Free self-hosting has no feature limits or usage costs, giving infrastructure-capable teams a clear path to unrestricted use.
Pro: The listed web and mobile framework coverage spans common JavaScript, cross-platform, and native app stacks.
Con: Hosted runs are credit-based after 100K free credits, at $100 per 150K credits; recurring usage therefore needs monitoring.
Con: Customer-provided test-data create and teardown functions put environment preparation work on the team.
Con: Self-hosting avoids usage charges but requires the customer to run the platform on its own infrastructure.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, browse AI software testing tools. Consider Autify if its listed free individual plan, one-time credits, or wider platform coverage better matches your needs. Momentic is another option if you want to compare a free-to-start offering with custom enterprise plans that include SAML SSO and fine-grained controls. SmartestQA may suit an individual looking for a free solo tier with one local agent and one parallel execution. TestFirst is worth considering if a free workspace allowance and a published $12.00 USD per month Plus plan fit your budget and usage pattern. testRigor offers a public open-source plan, so consider it if public tests and results are acceptable. iHarmony AI is another option in the category. UiPath Test Cloud is an alternative to compare if its listed performance-testing and Screenplay offerings are relevant to your testing needs. ACCELQ may be preferable if you are evaluating web, mobile, and API automation together.

Verdict

Choose Autonoma if you want AI-planned browser tests tied to pull requests and can support GitHub access and test-data setup. The no-limit self-hosted option is its clearest advantage for teams able to operate their own infrastructure; look elsewhere if you need to avoid that work and expect hosted credit usage to grow beyond the free allowance.
