Overview

AutoStore combines a Controller, Robots, an aluminum Grid, storage Bins and workstation Ports into a system for automating and coordinating warehouse order fulfillment. The Grid can be configured around a building’s floorspace, corners and obstacles such as pillars, pipes and walls. That adaptability helps planners fit the system to an existing facility, but it does not make AutoStore a software-only purchase: fixed infrastructure and project configuration are central to deployment.

Qualified system integrator partners distribute, design, install and service AutoStore systems. Buyers should expect to work through a partner for implementation and ongoing service. AutoStore says it has more than 2,000 systems in nearly 68 countries.

Key features

Robot coordination and analytics

CubeControl coordinates system operations and robot traffic; AutoStore Intelligence optimizes routing using historical and operational data. CubeAnalytics provides system-status monitoring, predictive outlier information, module performance trends and dashboards. Together, these tools give operators visibility and coordination across the installation, rather than treating robot movement as a separate task from warehouse operations.

AutoStore says Intelligence trains on aggregated operational and simulation data, not customer inventory data. That distinction may matter to teams concerned about how inventory information is used in routing optimization.

Integrations and enterprise fulfillment

Open APIs and standard interfaces are intended to connect AutoStore with existing WMS, ERP and other order management systems, as well as third-party hardware. API access and simulation tools are supported, and deployment is cloud-based. These capabilities make AutoStore relevant to buyers fitting automation into an established stack, though delivery still depends on a qualified system integrator.

Qubit Fulfillment Platform targets complex, large-scale enterprise networks and supports multi-site fulfillment. Its capabilities include multi-site order management, batching, pick-and-pack workflows, replenishment and inventory tracking with lot and expiration control. That breadth is useful for coordinating enterprise operations; smaller or simpler warehouses may not need this level of fulfillment functionality.

Safety

AutoStore says independent organizations evaluate and certify its devices, and its approval process covers 19 areas. Port safety features vary by model, and Ports are intended for trained personnel, so operators need to account for model-specific safeguards and staff training.

Pricing

AutoStore uses a paid model with custom pricing. The AutoStore system is a custom warehouse automation project with fixed infrastructure and project configuration, sold, designed, installed and serviced through system integrator partners. It fits buyers ready to scope a complete installation, not teams shopping for a standard software subscription.

Performance per Pick (PPP) charges a recurring fee per pick, with monthly fees adjusting to volume. It still requires upfront investment in fixed Grid infrastructure and is available through AutoStore’s partner network. The typical minimum term is 3–5 years, with a flat monthly minimum fee based on the number of operating Robots and Ports. The volume-linked fee can align recurring charges with activity, but the minimum and term make it a poor fit for short commitments or uncertain operating volumes.

Platforms

AutoStore supports API access and cloud deployment. Its APIs and standard interfaces are designed to connect warehouse management, ERP, order management and third-party hardware; it is not positioned as a self-hosted deployment.

Who it's for

AutoStore is best suited to warehouse operators investing in goods-to-person automation, especially large operations and enterprise networks that need multi-site fulfillment. Its configurable Grid can help accommodate building constraints, while orchestration, analytics and Qubit address operational coordination at scale. Buyers should have a defined infrastructure project and be prepared for integrator-led delivery. Teams seeking a standalone, quickly deployed software tool or avoiding fixed infrastructure and multi-year terms should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pro: The Grid can be configured around floorspace, corners and physical obstacles, giving planners flexibility within an existing facility.
Pro: Robot coordination, routing optimization and operational analytics combine control with monitoring and performance trends.
Pro: Open APIs and standard interfaces support connection to existing warehouse and enterprise systems and third-party hardware.
Con: Fixed Grid infrastructure requires upfront investment, including under PPP.
Con: PPP’s typical 3–5 year minimum and Robot- and Port-based monthly minimums limit flexibility for short-term or lower-volume operations.
Con: Qualified integrator partners handle design, installation and service, so buyers cannot treat deployment as a self-service software rollout.

Alternatives

Warehouse Robotics Software is a useful starting point for comparing options across the category.

Geek+ RMS is another paid option, with API and self-hosted platforms.
InOrbit Space Intelligence has a free plan and supports API, Linux and web. Its Premium Support costs 3000.00 USD per month with a 1-year commitment and includes a named customer success manager, engineering access, and real-time troubleshooting and consulting; consider it when those support and platform options fit your needs.
Mujin Pick System is worth considering for mixed-SKU case picking and 3PL scalability.
LocusONE offers a Robots-as-a-Service subscription that includes robot technology, software, support, updates, maintenance and operational optimization.
Onomatic offers a monthly subscription whose pricing scales with customer budget and business infrastructure.
inVia Logic offers a monthly software-only subscription with WES and PickMate, software maintenance, and tools for picking, replenishment, cycle counting and reporting.
Deepsky is another paid alternative.
GreyMatter offers Pro, Premium and Power plans with custom pricing.

Verdict

Choose AutoStore if your operation needs configurable goods-to-person infrastructure, coordinated robotics and fulfillment capabilities across a large or multi-site network. Its integration approach and combination of routing, analytics and Qubit support make it a substantial warehouse platform, not just a robot purchase. Look elsewhere if you need software without fixed infrastructure, direct self-service implementation or a short, low-commitment contract.
