Overview

Bonusly brings peer recognition, rewards, and employee engagement features together for teams that want recognition connected to company values. It is best suited to organizations that want to pair a redeemable rewards catalog with milestone celebrations and manager tools. The free plan is a useful starting point for small teams, but the eight-user cap and the difference between its annual paid tiers matter when planning a broader rollout.

Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, Bonusly spans recognition, employee rewards, and total rewards programs. It supports web, mobile, desktop, and API access, with integrations for Slack, Microsoft Teams, and more than 30 HRIS platforms.

Key features

Recognition and rewards

Employees can recognize colleagues publicly and tie recognition to company core values, then redeem points from a catalog of gift cards, physical gifts, cash and prepaid cards, charitable giving, branded swag, and custom rewards. Manager awards, award nominations, custom award types, budget controls, incentive campaigns, and global rewards give administrators several ways to shape the program. That breadth is useful for teams that want recognition and redemption in one system; the catalog and controls are less compelling if the priority is only lightweight peer praise.

Milestones and manager tools

Automatic celebrations can cover birthdays, work anniversaries, new hires, and other milestones. Enhanced one-to-ones, performance recaps, pulse check analytics, and automated manager alerts extend the product into ongoing team management. These tools make Bonusly a broader choice than a recognition-only program, though teams seeking a dedicated performance-management system should not assume these features replace one.

Integrations, AI, and security

Slack and Microsoft Teams integrations support recognition in collaboration workflows, while connections to 30+ HRIS platforms and an API give teams options for fitting Bonusly into an existing stack. Single sign-on is available, and Bonusly states that it is SOC 2 Type 2 compliant. Its Bizy assistant can use connected tools such as Slack and Granola to recommend recognition, prepare for one-to-ones, and summarize team activity; Bizy also has Mac and Windows desktop apps. The Org plan includes 1,000 MCP tool calls per month, so teams evaluating Bizy at that level should account for that stated allowance.

Pricing

Bonusly is freemium, with a free plan and a 30-day trial of Team or Organization that does not require payment information. Paid plans are billed annually where specified. The pricing note gives paid pricing from $3/user/mo, while Bizy is listed separately at $2.00 per user per month.

Plan	Price and terms	What it includes and who it suits
Free	0.00 USD per free, billed forever; up to 8 users	Peer recognition and guidance, Slack and Teams integrations, and iOS and Android apps. It is a practical entry point for a small team, but the seat cap makes it unsuitable as a permanent option for a larger workforce.
Bizy	2.00 USD per month, billed per user / month	Admins choose which users have access. Org includes 1,000 MCP tool calls / month. This tier is centered on the assistant rather than the full Team recognition and milestone feature set.
Team + Bizy	5.00 USD per month, billed per user / month; plans billed annually per pricing FAQ	Unlimited seats, advanced pulse check analytics, automated milestone celebrations, HRIS integrations and provisioning, and 24/7 chat support. It fits teams wanting ongoing recognition alongside manager and workforce tools, with annual billing as the commitment to weigh.
Organization + Bizy	Custom pricing; billed annually	Company announcements, awards and incentives, company-wide analytics and insights, recognition quality reporting, SAML SSO, a dedicated customer success manager, training library, and onboarding assistance. This is aimed at companies running recognition at scale, but buyers need a custom quote.

The Team and Organization trial offers a way to assess those plans before committing without entering payment information. Teams choosing Free give up the paid plan's unlimited seats, advanced analytics, automated milestones, and HRIS provisioning; buyers considering Organization should weigh its scale-oriented reporting and support against custom annual pricing.

Platforms

Bonusly lists Android, iOS, macOS, web, Windows, and API support. Mobile apps are included on Free, while the Bizy desktop apps cover Mac and Windows. That range helps teams with mixed devices and integration needs; it does not by itself establish that every feature is available on every platform.

Who it's for

Bonusly is a strong fit for small teams starting with recognition and for growing organizations that want rewards, milestone automation, HRIS connections, and manager-facing analytics in a single program. Organizations seeking SAML SSO, company-wide insights, recognition quality reporting, or guided onboarding should consider the custom-priced Organization plan. It is a weaker fit for teams that need a free product beyond eight users or want a low-cost, non-annual commitment to the full Team feature set.

Pros and cons

Pros: A broad redemption catalog combines gift cards and physical rewards with cash, charitable giving, swag, and custom options, giving teams multiple ways to recognize employees.
Pros: Slack, Teams, 30+ HRIS connections, SAML SSO, and an API provide useful routes into an existing software stack.
Pros: Milestone automation and team tools extend the product beyond peer recognition into manager routines and pulse analytics.
Cons: The free plan stops at 8 users, limiting its usefulness for growing teams that need to remain on a no-cost tier.
Cons: Team is billed annually, so the $5.00 per month per-user price comes with a longer billing commitment.
Cons: Organization requires custom pricing, which makes the cost harder to assess before engaging with a larger-scale plan.
