Overview

Checkout.com is a business payments platform for accepting payments and disbursing funds across markets and payment methods. It is best suited to businesses with international, recurring, or marketplace payment needs that can work with pricing tailored to their profile. Its reach and integration range are compelling; the main trade-off is that most businesses must request a quote.

Key features

Payment reach and methods

Checkout.com supports more than 150 processing currencies and local acquiring in over 50 countries. Businesses can take major card schemes, direct debits, vouchers, digital wallets, and bank transfers, with recurring and marketplace payments also supported. That breadth can simplify payment coverage for businesses operating across markets or serving varied customer preferences. A business with a narrow, single-market setup may not need that range.

Optimization and fraud controls

Intelligent Acceptance uses an AI engine to optimize payments with the aim of improving conversions and captured revenue. Fraud Detection combines network intelligence, machine-learning risk scores, transaction rules, and allow and block lists. Its Pro tier adds advanced controls and analytics, which may suit teams with more demanding fraud workflows. The platform’s breadth is useful, but teams should assess whether the added fraud capabilities fit their operational needs and tailored price.

Integration and support

Integration options include Flow, ecommerce plugins, Android and iOS SDKs, and hosted payment pages. The partner directory includes Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, and Salesforce Commerce Cloud, giving teams on those platforms a path to connect payments without relying only on a direct API integration. Checkout.com’s Solution Engineering team guides integration and provides live monitoring after launch. Merchant support covers technical issues and strategic advice, while a Dashboard AI agent is available 24/7.

Security

Checkout.com states that it is PCI DSS Level 1 compliant and that its systems are ISO 27001 certified. These credentials are relevant to teams evaluating payment infrastructure and its security posture.

Pricing

Checkout.com uses paid, tailored pricing based on a business profile and risk category. The pricing page says there are no setup fees or account maintenance fees, and that risk and fraud management tools are included. Custom pricing means buyers should obtain a quote to judge how the cost fits their volume and requirements.

Registered charities can receive free payment processing in countries where Checkout.com operates: the plan is priced at 0.00 USD per free. This is a specific charity offer, not a general free tier for businesses. Tailored pricing has no published price, so teams outside that eligibility should budget for a sales-led quote rather than assume a standard rate.

Platforms

Checkout.com supports Android, iOS, web, and API use. Its API and SDK coverage, mobile SDKs, plugins, Flow, and hosted payment pages give teams several integration paths, while the Solution Engineering team can guide implementation. Buyers should choose the approach that best fits their existing commerce stack and available engineering capacity.

Who it's for

Checkout.com is a strong fit for businesses that need broad international payment coverage, local acquiring, recurring payments, or marketplace payments, particularly when they value multiple integration options and built-in fraud tools. It is less suited to teams that need a transparent standard price before engaging a provider, or whose simpler domestic payment needs do not justify a tailored payment platform.

Pros and cons

Pros: More than 150 processing currencies and local acquiring in over 50 countries support a wide range of cross-border operations.
Pros: Cards, direct debits, vouchers, wallets, and bank transfers cover varied payment preferences, with recurring and marketplace payments supported.
Pros: Flow, plugins, mobile SDKs, hosted pages, and API integration give teams several ways to connect payments.
Pros: Fraud Detection, its Pro tier, and Intelligent Acceptance bring risk controls and payment optimization into the platform.
Cons: Tailored pricing is provided on request, so most businesses cannot compare a published standard rate upfront.
Cons: The free processing offer applies to registered charities in operating countries, not businesses generally.

PayPal Multiparty Payments is another paid option with Android, iOS, web, and API support; its platform or marketplace approval requirement matters to buyers considering it. Finix has a $250.00 USD monthly membership fee for its Direct Merchants — Standard plan, with transaction and other fees also applying, and no free plan. Rainforest is another paid option; its card transaction fee plan shows 0.20 USD per month for monthly dollar volume of $15m–$25m, plus interchange and DFA at passthrough. Stax Connect offers paid pricing by contacting sales. Moov has a $500.00 USD monthly minimum on its Standard pricing plan, with per-feature transaction fees, and also offers custom pricing. Rapyd lists a $99.00 USD monthly fee for its Rapyd Business Account, charged after account approval. Stripe Connect offers a 0.00 USD per free plan with no platform fees, while Stripe sets and collects processing fees from connected accounts. Adyen charges per transaction with a fixed processing fee plus a payment-method fee, and has no setup or monthly fees.

Verdict

Choose Checkout.com if your business needs broad payment reach, marketplace or recurring payments, and flexible integration options backed by fraud controls. Its main advantage is the combination of international coverage and payment tooling; its main reason to look elsewhere is the lack of a published standard price, especially if your needs are limited to straightforward domestic processing.
