Overview

BrandKity is a web and API brand portal for collecting assets and guidance into shareable kits. It fits agencies, studios and in-house brand teams that need to distribute controlled, current materials; freelancers can start on its free plan. The case for choosing it is the combination of access controls, asset previews and automation options, tempered by tight storage and seat limits on lower tiers.

Key features

A Brand Kit can hold colors, typography, logos, visuals, videos, icons, collateral, resources and a brand story. Public, password-protected and email-restricted sharing gives teams practical ways to separate a public reference from material intended for selected recipients. Edits appear immediately through the shared link, so teams do not need to replace links when guidance changes.

The media library supports folders, asset details, inline previews and an interactive 3D model viewer. More than 25 file formats are supported, with previews that do not require a download—useful when a kit includes varied creative deliverables. Legal Kit adds compliance badges and documents, access requests, one-time code verification, custom domains and Cloudflare Turnstile bot protection. The homepage displays SOC 2 Type II, GDPR and ISO 27001 labels alongside this feature.

Integrations include Canva, Figma, Notion, Zapier, WordPress and Google Drive, among other tools. An MCP server and REST API give AI agents and automation a route into the platform; Claude Desktop, Cursor and Windsurf are named as compatible MCP clients. That breadth should appeal to teams fitting a portal into existing workflows, though the integrations do not remove the need to choose a plan with enough storage and seats.

Pricing

BrandKity has a free plan and three monthly paid tiers. Free costs 0.00 USD per free, billed Forever free, and includes 500 MB, one user, seven days of analytics retention and email support. It is a sensible way for an individual to establish a small kit, but the storage ceiling and short analytics window make it a constrained ongoing home for a growing asset library.

Starter costs 9.00 USD per month, billed per month. It increases storage to 10 GB and analytics retention to 30 days, but remains limited to one user and email support. That makes it a better fit for a solo freelancer with more assets, not a team needing shared editing.

Pro costs 24.00 USD per month, billed per month, and provides 50 GB, three members, 90 days of analytics retention and priority email support. It is the first tier suited to a small collaborative team. Agency costs 59.00 USD per month, billed per month, and raises capacity to 200 GB and 10 members, with lifetime analytics retention, unlimited kit custom domains and priority live chat. Agencies handling more clients or needing custom domains across kits have a concrete reason to move up; the higher price buys capacity and support rather than a larger team without limit.

Platforms

BrandKity is available on web and through an API. Its MCP server also names Claude Desktop, Cursor and Windsurf as compatible clients, making it relevant to teams that want to connect AI-agent workflows to their brand portal.

Who it's for

Agencies and studios can use shared kits to distribute client-facing guidance and assets, while in-house brand teams can keep a current reference available through one link. Freelancers and consultants can begin alone on Free or Starter, provided their storage needs are modest. Teams that need more than three members, substantial storage or long analytics retention will need Agency; BrandKity is less compelling for a larger group seeking broad seats without moving to that tier.

Pros and cons

Pros: Flexible public, password and email-restricted access lets teams match kit visibility to its audience.
Pros: Instant shared-link updates, varied file previews and a 3D model viewer support a portal that goes beyond static guidelines.
Pros: Integrations, REST API and MCP support offer several paths to fit established creative and automation workflows.
Cons: Free has just 500 MB and one user, while Starter still has one user; teams must pay at least 24.00 USD per month for three members.
Cons: Analytics retention ranges from seven days on Free to lifetime only on Agency, so teams wanting durable analytics face a substantial tier jump.

Alternatives

Brandy is worth comparing for teams prioritizing a low-cost paid tier or numerous editors: its listed Pro plan is 5.00 USD per month with 50GB storage and unlimited assets, while its free plan includes 100MB, 20 assets, unlimited editors and one brand space.

BrandHalo is another freemium API and web option, with a free tier that includes one Brand Profile, one persona, one team member, Brand Agent and Connectors. Its paid Essentials plan is 139.00 AUD per month, a different price point for teams considering its included profile and persona structure.

Lingo may suit an API-focused buyer comparing a paid offering with a time-limited Try for Free plan, which lasts 30 days; its Starter plan is 80.00 USD per month billed annually, plus $16/editor/mo billed annually.

Brand24 is an alternative for buyers considering a paid platform with a free trial and broad desktop and mobile platform support.

Brandeploy is an alternative for buyers seeking a subscription whose financial terms and service level are set out in a purchase order.

Brandworkz is an alternative with a free plan and an Essentials offering that includes an online brand kit, logo management, brand-colour guidelines, font management, asset filtering and a public-facing brand site.

Brandkit is a paid alternative with no free plan; its Team Small plan is 99.00 USD per month billed monthly and includes 100GB usage per month and unlimited users.

Kadanza is a paid API and web alternative with no free plan; its GROW plan includes unlimited users, 10,000 assets, brand guidelines, digital asset management, SSO integration and email support.

Verdict

BrandKity is a strong fit for agencies, studios and brand teams that want controlled, current brand kits with asset previews and a legal portal, plus integration and API options. Its free tier is useful for a solo start, but the decisive limitation is scale: meaningful collaboration begins at Pro, and larger teams or sustained analytics require Agency. Choose it when the portal and workflow connections justify those constraints; look elsewhere if generous team access at a lower tier matters more.
