Overview

The solution combines talent identification and development with succession planning. CatalystOne Calibrator structures employee assessments to support more consistent evaluations, while Succession Planner helps teams identify key roles, map potential successors, and track readiness and development. The aim is to support informed decisions about internal promotion or bringing in outside expertise.

These capabilities sit within CatalystOne’s modular HR/HCM suite rather than as a standalone assessment product. That makes the product most relevant when talent decisions need to connect with wider workforce processes and data. Performance reviews, learning management, and career pathing are also part of its broader capabilities.

Key features

Assessment and succession

Calibrator gives employee evaluations a structured framework, which can help HR and managers compare assessments more consistently and reduce bias. Succession Planner adds a practical focus on role coverage: teams can map possible successors and monitor development and readiness rather than treating succession as a static list.

Dashboards and integrations

Visual dashboards and flexible reporting are designed to make succession data useful in planning conversations. Integration with performance and competence data can give those conversations more context, although the value depends on how well an organization connects its existing systems.

CatalystOne offers configurable, custom, and partner integrations for systems such as payroll, identity management, applicant tracking, workforce management, learning management, and benefits. Its integration services run on Microsoft Azure as a managed service. Customers building integrations themselves can use secure API access with advisory support; the Developer Platform remains in early access, so teams that depend on a mature developer experience should weigh that limitation carefully.

Pricing

CatalystOne uses a paid model with custom pricing. The Talent and Succession solution has no published plan prices; prospective customers are directed to book a demo or contact the company. That approach may suit organizations evaluating a broader HR/HCM deployment, but teams comparing costs upfront will need a sales conversation before they can judge fit against budget.

Platforms

CatalystOne supports web access and an API. The API provides an integration route for customers, while the early-access status of the Developer Platform is a consideration for teams planning substantial in-house development. Service data is hosted in Microsoft Azure data centers in Sweden and Norway and encrypted at rest using AES-256. CatalystOne states that it is ISO 27001:2022 certified and undergoes annual ISAE 3000 Type 2 attestation.

Support is available by email, chat, phone, or customer portal Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 17:00 CET. Organizations operating outside those hours should account for the stated support window in their service planning.

Who it's for

CatalystOne is a fit for HR teams and managers who need a shared process for identifying talent and preparing successors for critical roles, particularly where performance, competence, and other HR systems should inform decisions. Its integration options and suite context make it more suitable for organizations seeking connected HR operations than for buyers looking only for a lightweight succession tool.

It is less suited to teams that require public pricing to make an initial shortlist or that need a fully mature developer platform for integration work immediately. Buyers should also assess whether the broader suite aligns with their existing HR stack before committing to its talent modules.

Pros and cons

Pros: Structured assessments and succession planning work together, linking evaluations to successor readiness and development.
Pros: Configurable, custom, and partner integrations cover common HR system categories, with API access and advisory support for in-house integration work.
Pros: Azure hosting, AES-256 encryption at rest, ISO 27001:2022 certification, and annual ISAE 3000 Type 2 attestation provide concrete security assurances.
Cons: Custom pricing means buyers cannot compare the solution’s cost from a published rate card.
Cons: The Developer Platform is in early access, which may be a constraint for teams whose implementation depends on a mature self-service developer experience.
Cons: Support hours are limited to weekdays, 08:00 to 17:00 CET.

Alternatives

Choose Korn Ferry Assess if the priority is an assessment-focused alternative with API, macOS, web, and Windows platforms; its pricing is also on request, with no public plan limits stated. Consider Keka when a freemium option matters: its Foundation plan includes core HR, time tracking, payroll and expenses, and employee self-service, alongside a free plan and free trial.

StaffCircle is an option for buyers considering one core module with optional add-ons and volume discounts as headcount grows. Workzoom Talent Suite is a paid talent-suite alternative with a listed Talent plan at 4.00 USD per month, billed monthly. For other paid alternatives, Cornerstone Learning, Cegid Retail, and Ramco HCM each require a quote, demo, or direct pricing inquiry.

Verdict

Choose CatalystOne if your organization wants structured talent assessments tied directly to succession planning and needs the modules to work within a broader HR/HCM environment. Its integration breadth and security posture strengthen the case for connected deployments. Look elsewhere if published pricing or a mature developer platform is essential to your selection process.
