Overview

CDM+ is provided by Suran Systems, Inc. Its accounting centers on a true fund-accounting ledger, with unlimited accounts, transfers between funds, bank reconciliation, budgets, and customizable reporting. Designated and undesignated balances help organizations keep restricted funds distinct, while the unchangeable audit trail and audit reports support financial oversight.

The suite extends beyond accounting into clergy payroll, online invoice payments, and expense submission. Payroll supports distinct employee roles and payers with unique Federal EINs, electronic 1099 filing, and automatically updated tax tables. Customers can pay invoices by card or ACH, with payments saved to CDM+ Accounting; staff can photograph receipts in the mobile app and submit them to Accounts Payable. That breadth is useful for organizations consolidating routine finance work, but teams seeking only accounting may not need the wider suite.

Data Hosting is included with every plan: it provides round-the-clock database access, secure off-site daily backups, and automatic server upgrades. CDM+ says most hosting facilities are SOC-2 certified and remote access is limited to Suran staff using best-practice security controls. An API supports integrations into the CDM+ Software Suite, and the company can convert data from just about any system at no extra cost for new subscriptions that remain active at least 12 months.

Key features

Fund accounting and audit: Track designated and undesignated balances, transfer funds, and retain an unchangeable ledger trail. This is a strong match for organizations that must account for restricted funds.
Budgets and reconciliation: Build annual or monthly budgets, compare actuals with budget, and reconcile bank accounts. These are practical controls for regular financial review.
Payroll: Clergy payroll, multiple employee roles and EINs, electronic 1099 filing, and updated tax tables address needs that generic accounting alone does not cover.
Billing and expenses: Online card and ACH invoice payments post to accounting, while mobile receipt photos flow to Accounts Payable. Payment processing fees apply: $0.30 plus 2.9% for Visa/MasterCard/Discover, $0.30 plus 3.5% for American Express, and $0.30 plus 0.8% for ACH. Payroll direct deposit costs $0.50.
Hosting and access: Hosting is included across plans, and Mobile Receipts can be installed on unlimited personal devices. Desktop licensing is concurrent: installations can span any number of computers, but simultaneous users are limited except on Complete.
Support and training: Every plan includes introductory training. Phone and email support operate during weekday business hours; online and in-person training, documentation, and videos are also offered.

Pricing

CDM+ has no free plan. SaaS plans are paid monthly by automatic ACH withdrawal; annual payment is not available. A first-three-months-free promotion is offered to new subscribers, with data transfer at no extra cost. No trial or refund policy is stated. Most plans include one concurrent user; additional users generally cost $5 monthly, with exceptions. Additional organizations generally cost $15 monthly, subject to a $30 monthly cap.

Plan	Price	What it includes and who it suits
Essentials	$25.00 per month	One program and one user. A low-cost entry point for organizations needing the Essentials program; it can export data but does not provide a specific QuickBooks integration.
Starter	$25.00 per month	One program, one concurrent user, 50 individual records, and 25 giving unit records. The caps make it better suited to smaller organizations with limited records.
Grow 1	$50.00 per month	One program, one concurrent user, 75 individual records, and 50 giving unit records.
Grow 2	$75.00 per month	One program, one concurrent user, 100 individual records, and 75 giving unit records. The higher record allowances cost more but remain capped.
Core	$100.00 per month	One program and one concurrent user. A higher-priced single-program option where the one-user limit is sufficient.
Choice	$50.00 per month	One program, one concurrent user, and unlimited individual and giving unit records. It removes the record ceilings of Starter and Grow, though the program and concurrent-user limits remain.
Complete	$175.00 per month	Unlimited programs, concurrent users, individual records, and giving unit records. This is the clearest fit for larger teams that need simultaneous access and room to grow.

The Grow offering is also described as three core programs, up to 50 givers and 75 individuals, with additional programs at $25 per month. Choice is described as any one to five programs, with each additional program at $25 per month. Starter and Grow record limits vary by plan, so organizations approaching those ceilings should compare their expected records before choosing. Desktop users can install the software on multiple computers, but that does not remove concurrent-license limits.

Platforms

CDM+ supports Android, iOS, macOS, web, and Windows, with an API for integrations into its software suite. Desktop software is paired with Apple, Google, and Amazon mobile apps. This range accommodates mixed-device organizations, while the API is specifically described for building into the CDM+ suite rather than as a broader integration catalog.

Who it's for

CDM+ makes the most sense for churches and nonprofits that need restricted-fund accounting, budget oversight, and operational tools such as clergy payroll, online billing, or receipt capture. It is less compelling for small organizations whose record counts or user needs exceed entry-plan caps, or for teams that need annual SaaS billing. Organizations primarily seeking a standalone payroll or membership platform should compare narrower options.

Pros and cons

Pro: Fund balances, transfers, budgeting, reconciliation, and an unchangeable audit trail address nonprofit accounting needs directly.
Pro: Payroll, invoice collection, and receipt submission connect adjacent finance workflows to accounting.
Pro: Hosting, backups, and upgrades are included on every plan, avoiding a separate hosting choice.
Pro: Complete removes concurrent-user and record ceilings for $175.00 per month.
Con: Starter and Grow cap individual and giving unit records, which can force a plan change as an organization expands.
Con: SaaS billing is monthly by ACH only, with no annual payment option.
Con: Most plans include just one concurrent user; extra licenses generally add $5 monthly.
Con: Payment processing adds per-transaction fees, and Essentials lacks a specific QuickBooks integration.

Alternatives

For a broader payroll and HR suite, compare ADP Workforce Now, which offers payroll and HR with benefits administration on its Plus plan. isolved HCM is worth considering when a modular platform with flexible options for organizations of different sizes and industries is the priority.

Churches seeking accounting-focused alternatives can consider Amplify Accounting, whose pricing varies by church size and selected solutions, or Elexio Church Accounting, a web-based accounting option. For payroll tied to an existing Shelby Financials setup, Shelby Financials Payroll requires active Shelby Financials.

IconCMO Payroll is a lower-cost payroll add-on starting at $40.00 per month for unlimited employees, with a free trial; choose it when payroll is the priority and an Icon accounting or membership and donation package is already in place. FellowshipOne is another church management option to compare.

Verdict

Choose CDM+ if your church or nonprofit needs true fund accounting and wants payroll, billing, expenses, and hosted access in the same suite. Its strongest argument is the combination of nonprofit-specific ledger controls and connected finance workflows. Look elsewhere if capped entry plans, one-user defaults, transaction fees, or monthly ACH-only billing do not fit your operating model.
