Overview

isolved HCM brings HR, payroll, benefits and talent operations into its People Cloud platform for organizations with 50 to more than 1,500 employees. It is best suited to employers that want a connected system across the employee lifecycle, rather than a payroll tool alone. Its broad coverage is appealing, but custom pricing makes the cost of a modular deployment something to establish before committing.

Key features

People Cloud covers processes from hiring through retirement, with modules for talent acquisition, HR and payroll, benefits, workforce management, talent management, and AI and analytics. That range can bring several people functions under one roof; smaller teams with a narrow payroll need may be paying for scope they do not use.

Benefits Administration supports plan research, selection and enrollment, and connects those activities with payroll and providers. For employers managing benefits and pay together, that link can reduce operational separation between enrollment and payroll. Payroll includes tax filing, W-2 and 1099 support, direct deposit, reporting, tip management, POS integrations, multi-state payroll and employee self-service. The combination suits employers with varied payroll requirements, including those handling tips or multiple states.

People Cloud works in a web browser or mobile app. The Integration Marketplace offers third-party extensions, while a REST API provides another route for connecting systems. These options matter to teams fitting HCM into an existing stack, though buyers should assess whether the integrations they rely on are covered by their intended deployment.

isolved says People Cloud runs on security-hardened Microsoft Azure systems, with encryption in transit and at rest. Its controls include MFA, TLS, AES-256 encryption, intrusion detection and prevention, web application firewalls and annual external vulnerability testing. The Azure datacenters used are certified to more than 90 compliance standards, including ISO 27001, FedRAMP and SOC 2. This is a substantial security and compliance foundation for employers evaluating a people platform, though it does not remove the need to assess their own compliance requirements.

Pricing

isolved offers a Customized Pricing plan with flexible options and a modular platform for organizations of every size and industry. Pricing is custom, so employers should request a quote based on the modules and organizational needs they expect to include. That flexibility may suit teams assembling a broader HCM setup, but makes direct budget comparisons difficult until scope is defined.

Platforms

People Cloud is available on web, Android and iOS, and provides an API. Browser and mobile access can serve employees and administrators across devices, while the API and Integration Marketplace address connection needs for organizations with an existing software stack.

Who it's for

isolved is a strong fit for employers with 50 to more than 1,500 employees that need HR, payroll, benefits and talent processes in one platform. Its benefits-to-payroll connection and payroll support for multi-state operations, tips and POS integrations are particularly relevant to organizations with more involved payroll workflows. Employers seeking only basic payroll, or those unable to evaluate a custom-priced modular package before purchase, should consider narrower alternatives.

Pros and cons

Broad employee-lifecycle coverage: modules span hiring, HR, payroll, benefits, workforce management and talent, which can consolidate multiple people functions.
Connected benefits and payroll: benefits research, selection and enrollment connect with payroll and providers, useful for employers coordinating those workflows.
Flexible integration routes: a REST API and Integration Marketplace give teams options for connecting People Cloud with other systems.
Payroll breadth: tax filing, W-2 and 1099 support, direct deposit, tip management, POS integrations and multi-state payroll support a range of employer needs.
Custom pricing: the modular approach offers flexibility, but buyers need a quote to assess cost and compare the package with alternatives.
Potentially excessive scope: organizations needing only payroll may not gain enough from the broader HCM platform to justify adopting it.

Alternatives

Kit by KitchenSync is worth considering for restaurant operators seeking payroll and HR alongside finance, weekly P&Ls, AP automation and banking; its Kit Essentials plan is 1500.00 USD per month, billed at $1,500 per location per month, and includes one manager and five employees. Workforce.com offers scheduling, HR and payroll in an All-in-One plan with advanced implementation support, or a separate Scheduling plan for teams focused on employee scheduling.

Gusto may suit smaller teams seeking a clearly priced entry point: Simple is 49.00 USD per month, billed $49/mo + $6/mo per person, with basic payroll in one state, unlimited payrolls, tax filings and payments, and basic PTO and holiday pay. ADP Workforce Now is another payroll and HR suite, with benefits administration included in its Plus plan. PayMaster Hospitality is an alternative for buyers evaluating hospitality payroll software.

CheckMark Payroll is a fit for organizations preferring desktop payroll software: Payroll Pro is 599.00 USD per year, billed $599 for the first year and $419 from the second year, with unlimited employees and payrolls for one company and one computer. OnPay offers a web and mobile payroll option at 49.00 USD per month, billed $49 base fee per month + $6 per worker per month, with unlimited pay runs and schedules and year-end filings included. Paycor is another paid HCM alternative.

Verdict

Choose isolved HCM if your organization needs HR, payroll, benefits and talent operations connected across the employee lifecycle, with API and marketplace routes into an existing stack. Its strongest case is breadth paired with substantial payroll capabilities; look elsewhere if you need only payroll or require a readily comparable price before defining the package.
