Overview

Circle combines discussions, chat, member profiles and directories, gamification, and analytics with courses, events, payments, email, and website tools. Private spaces, custom domains, and moderation tools support communities that need controlled access and active management. The advantage is a broad operating toolkit in one platform; the trade-off is that team seats, spaces, storage, and live-stream capacity are capped on paid tiers below Circle Plus.

Key features

Learning and live programming

Courses can be self-paced, structured, or scheduled, with sections, lessons, and quizzes. That range can accommodate both an on-demand course library and a planned learning program within the community. Events, live streams, and live rooms add Q&A, attendee participation, and session recordings. Live-stream limits rise from 100 attendees on Professional to 200 on Business and 500 on Scale, so organizations expecting larger audiences need to account for the higher plan cost.

Integrations and APIs

Circle connects with Airtable, Google Sheets, Memberstack, WordPress, Memberful, Typeform, and Slack through native connections, embeds, snippets, or Zapier. This gives teams several routes to connect existing tools rather than requiring every workflow to move into Circle. API access includes Admin and Headless Member APIs, with request limits that vary by plan; teams building custom integrations should check that tier's allowance against their expected usage.

Apps, security, and support

Circle supports Android, iOS, Mac, Windows, and web, with mobile apps and desktop apps for Mac and Windows on all plans. Its security measures are designed to safeguard information, and Circle says it does not store payment card details on its servers. GDPR compliance is included in the plan comparison. Support ranges from standard on Professional and Business to priority on Scale and premium on Circle Plus, which gives higher tiers a clearer support path for teams that need it.

Pricing

Circle has no free plan, but offers a 14-day trial. Its listed entry price is $89/mo; paid plan prices below are billed annually, so buyers should weigh the annual commitment alongside the monthly equivalent.

Plan	Price and capacity	Best fit
Professional	89.00 USD per month, billed Annual billing; unlimited members, 3 admins, 10 moderators, 20 spaces, 2% transaction fee, and 200GB storage.	Smaller teams that can work within three admin seats and need a broad set of community tools.
Business	199.00 USD per month, billed Annual billing; unlimited members, 5 admins, 15 moderators, 30 spaces, 1% transaction fee, and 500GB storage.	Teams needing more operating capacity and a lower transaction fee than Professional.
Scale	419.00 USD per month, billed Annual billing; unlimited members, 10 admins, 100 moderators, 100 spaces, 1% transaction fee, and 1TB storage.	Larger communities that need substantially more moderation, space, storage, or live-stream capacity.
Circle Plus	Custom pricing; unlimited members, admins, and moderators, flexible spaces, 1TB storage, and 10k Email Hub contacts included.	Organizations that need flexible space allocation, uncapped team seats, or included Email Hub contacts.

All three priced plans allow unlimited members, so the meaningful differences are operational capacity and cost structure. Professional's 2% transaction fee is higher than the 1% on Business and Scale, while its smaller admin, moderator, space, and storage allowances may constrain teams as they grow. Scale raises live-stream attendance to 500 from Business's 200, but Circle Plus is the option with unlimited admin and moderator seats and flexible spaces.

Platforms

Circle runs on web, Android, iOS, Mac, and Windows, and offers API access. Desktop apps are available to communities on every plan, so teams do not need Circle Plus to use a Mac or Windows app.

Who it's for

Circle is a good fit for creators, brands, solopreneurs, and community businesses that want discussion, courses, events, and related publishing or payment tools together. It is less compelling for teams seeking a free starting tier, or for those whose expected live audience, team size, or transaction volume makes the lower plans' caps and fees costly.

Pros and cons

Pros: Community, courses, events, payments, email, and website tools share one platform, which can reduce the need to split those activities across services.
Pros: Unlimited members on Professional, Business, and Scale means growth in membership alone does not force a plan change.
Pros: API access, multiple integration routes, and apps across mobile, desktop, and web provide options for fitting Circle into an existing stack.
Cons: There is no free plan, and the 14-day trial is the only free entry point.
Cons: Professional carries a 2% transaction fee, while admin, moderator, space, and storage limits require teams to assess their operating needs before committing.
Cons: Live-stream attendance is capped at 100, 200, or 500 on the three priced plans, limiting the size of live sessions without a plan upgrade.

Verdict

Choose Circle if your community needs discussion, learning, live programming, and publishing or payment tools together, and its plan limits match your team's workload. The broad feature set and unlimited-member tiers are the main reasons to choose it; look elsewhere if you need a free plan or if transaction fees and limits on seats, spaces, storage, or live attendance make the annual commitment a poor fit.
