Overview

ClearedMap combines game maps with progress tracking: mark locations as found, keep notes and drawings on the map, and use a route planner to order remaining markers with Pro. The free checklist allows unlimited markers and saves progress in the browser, so it works well for solo tracking on one device without a signup step. Signing in enables backup and cross-device sync, as well as a shareable link to progress.

Marker data is surveyed by the community and published with screenshot proof; ClearedMap says it does not use datamined material. That approach gives contributors a way to document locations without extracting game files, but marker accuracy remains a work in progress. Visitors are asked to report errors, so players relying on exhaustive or authoritative coverage should allow for gaps or mistakes.

Key features

Checklists and annotations

The unlimited-marker checklist and free map notes and drawings make the free tier useful for players who want to personalize a map without paying. Progress is stored in browser local storage unless you sign in to back it up and sync it. That makes the no-account option straightforward, but it is less suited to anyone who needs progress carried between devices.

Pro tools and hub coverage

Pro currently adds custom marker collections and a route planner that orders markers still needed, alongside a founding badge. These tools are most relevant to players with a substantial collection to organize or a route to plan; the badge is a recognition perk rather than a map capability. Ad-free browsing for signed-in users and a vote on the next game hub are still being built, not current benefits.

The platform says its team creates map backdrops and screenshots from its own gameplay rather than extracting or redistributing game-file assets. For games that have not shipped, it says it uses officially published material and has an administrator review each item before publication. Hubs open only when a game has a real map to survey and its publisher allows fan content, which limits coverage by design.

Pricing

ClearedMap is freemium, with no free trial. The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free, billed Free forever. It includes every map and marker, an unlimited checklist, notes and drawings, and no account requirement. It is the sensible starting point for players who only need browser-based tracking on one device; it gives up the paid sync and route-planning tools.

ClearedMap Pro — Monthly costs 2.99 USD per month, billed $2.99 per month. It includes the founding badge, custom collections and route planner. Planned ad-free browsing and a vote on the next hub are not yet built features, so the current case for paying rests on the tools already included. This plan fits players who want those tools without a one-time commitment.

ClearedMap Pro — Founding costs 19.99 USD per once, billed $19.99 one payment. It includes current Pro features and everything added later, and remains valid for as long as the site exists. It may suit committed users who prefer one payment over recurring monthly billing, but its value depends on continued site existence. Stripe handles checkout, card details and invoices; ClearedMap stores plan status.

Platforms

ClearedMap is a web platform, including for mobile access. Its browser-based checklist and local storage suit users who want to start without an account, while signed-in syncing addresses multi-device use. It does not offer a separately identified native mobile app.

Who it's for

ClearedMap is a good fit for open-world players who want an unlimited, no-account checklist, editable map annotations and optional paid route planning. It is less compelling for players whose game is not covered, who require verified complete marker data, or who want a native mobile app. Its three covered games and permission-dependent hub policy mean it is a focused tool, not a general guide library.

On privacy, the project says it does not require an account or collect personal data, and that checklist progress stays in browser local storage. Cookieless analytics load only after a visitor accepts the consent banner. Users who sign in for sync and sharing should weigh those features against the account requirement.

Pros and cons

Pro: Unlimited checklist markers and free notes and drawings make the free tier more than a read-only map.
Pro: No account is needed for the checklist, and signing in adds backup, cross-device sync and shareable progress.
Pro: Community markers are published with screenshot proof, and the project says it avoids datamined material.
Con: Community-contributed marker data is still a work in progress, so accuracy is not assured.
Con: Hub availability depends on surveyable maps and publisher permission, restricting game coverage.
Con: Ad-free browsing and a say in the next hub are planned, not current Pro features.

Verdict

Choose ClearedMap if your game is covered and you want a generous no-account checklist with free annotations, plus the option to pay for syncing and route planning. Its clearest drawback is the combination of limited, permission-dependent coverage and community markers that remain a work in progress. Players who need a different platform or broader game-guide coverage should compare alternatives before committing.
