Overview

Founded in 2003 and headquartered in Sydney, ClickView serves elementary, middle and high schools, as well as districts. Its value is not just a catalogue of standards-aligned lesson videos: teachers can also upload material and use video within classroom workflows. For teams comparing educational video libraries, that combination is most relevant when educators need to assign, adapt and discuss video rather than simply browse it.

Key features

Quizzes and student insights

Teachers can use ready-made interactive quizzes or create them from videos, including their own uploads. Results show which questions students found difficult, and whether students skipped or did not watch a video. That makes video assignments more informative than a view count alone, although the described insights are focused on participation and quiz responses.

Teacher-created material and classroom sharing

Teachers can upload videos, make clips and playlists, and share them with students. Video downloads and documented offline viewing on iOS and Android help when students need access away from a reliable connection. This flexibility makes ClickView more useful for teachers building lessons around their own material, not just selecting from a library.

Integrations, security and privacy

ClickView lists rostering integrations with ClassLink, Clever, Google Classroom, Microsoft, PowerSchool, Schoology, Canvas and Blackboard. Its Canvas plugin lets educators search ClickView and My Videos and embed clips in course pages, a practical fit for schools already organizing coursework in Canvas. ClickView says it uses tiered platform access, regularly changed passwords, encryption and access-recording systems. It also says it does not sell student personal information to advertisers or target advertising to students or children. Data is hosted in AWS in Australia and the United States and held in an encrypted AWS environment.

Pricing

Free teacher account

The free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and gives teachers access, but school streaming starts at 10 video streams per month. Each accepted colleague invitation adds five streams, up to 35 per month. That is a useful way for a teacher or small group to evaluate classroom workflows, but the ceiling makes it a poor fit for regular whole-school use.

School or district subscription

Annual subscriptions provide full institutional access with unlimited streaming, but use custom pricing. Schools that need predictable, unrestricted use will need to consider this route; teams should weigh the institutional scope against the lack of a published price before committing. A free trial is available.

Platforms

ClickView supports web, Android and iOS. The iOS app provides videos and resources on iPhone and iPad, and offline video viewing is documented for both mobile platforms. That gives students a route to video access beyond a desktop browser, while the described app-specific resource access applies to iOS.

Who it's for

ClickView is best suited to K–12 schools and districts that want educational video tied to classroom activities, teacher uploads, quizzes and participation insights. It is less compelling for a school seeking a fully open-ended streaming allowance without a subscription, or for someone looking only for free public lectures or standalone lesson-creation tools.

Pros and cons

Pros

Quizzes can use both library videos and teacher uploads, so educators can build checks for understanding around their own material.
Results reveal difficult questions and students who skipped or did not watch, helping teachers distinguish engagement gaps from quiz performance.
Broad rostering integrations and a Canvas embedding plugin support existing school workflows.
Documented offline viewing on iOS and Android supports access when connectivity is limited.

Cons

The free school allowance begins at 10 streams per month and tops out at 35, which is restrictive for wider school use.
Unlimited streaming requires an annual institutional subscription with custom pricing, so budget comparison is less direct.

Alternatives

For eligible English state schools funded by the Department for Education with a valid PVS Licence, Into Film+ offers a free 600+ title catalogue; choose it when that eligibility and catalogue fit, rather than when teacher uploads and school-wide video workflows are the priority. NFB Education is another freemium option, with an institutional licence required for educational use of hosted films and teacher resources. PBS LearningMedia provides free PreK–12 educator and student access through a required free account, making it a straightforward alternative for users seeking a free web service.

TED-Ed offers free web-based lesson creation and consumption tools. Australian Screen Online (ASO) Education is a freely available web option. Open Yale Courses provides free public access without registration, but does not grant Yale course credit, a degree or a certificate. NFSA Digital Resource Finder and VideoLectures.NET are also free web alternatives.

Verdict

Choose ClickView if your school wants teachers to combine educational video with uploads, quizzes and visibility into student viewing. Its classroom-oriented tools and integrations are the strongest reason to adopt it; the modest free stream allowance and custom-priced annual subscription are the reasons to look elsewhere if cost certainty or unrestricted free access matters more.
