Overview

ClipEmber brings clip discovery, transcript-led editing, vertical reframing and social publishing into one service for repurposing long videos. The trade-off is that monthly video limits shape paid plans, and TikTok still needs a final manual posting step.

Key features

Clip selection scores candidate moments from 0 to 100 and explains each clip’s hook. That gives editors a reason to prioritize one moment over another, though teams still choose which suggestions suit their audience. The transcript editor supports cutting words, restyling captions, undo and redo, and version history, making revisions easier to manage without treating each edit as a one-way change.

Transcription covers more than 90 languages with word-level timing, and captions can be rendered in nine styles. Face detection keeps speakers centered in vertical crops; fill, fit and square layouts offer options when the source footage or destination format calls for different framing. Together, these tools suit teams producing varied short-form output from a shared video library.

ClipEmber connects to TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels through their official APIs. The TikTok caveat matters for anyone expecting end-to-end autopublishing: Direct Post remains under audit, so users upload clips and complete posting from an Inbox notification. That handoff may be acceptable for a review step, but it is less convenient than a fully automated posting workflow.

The REST API supports clip requests, status checks, rendered downloads and completion webhooks. An MCP server works with Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Claude Desktop and other compatible clients, extending access to teams that want to connect clip work to those tools. ClipEmber says API key secrets are shown once and stored only as a hash. Its terms say submitted content and generated clips remain the user’s and are not used to train models.

Pricing

ClipEmber has a free plan and paid plans billed yearly at the shown rates. The free tier costs 0.00 USD per month, billed $0/mo, and includes five videos each month, file-upload ingest, the full editor and manual downloads. It is a sensible way to assess the editing workflow, but it lacks the autoposting and higher monthly capacity of paid plans.

Creator costs 6.00 USD per month, billed $6/mo yearly, with the page showing $9 and a stated saving of $32/yr. It raises capacity to 30 videos per month, adds YouTube link ingest, autoposting to three accounts and priority support. This suits an individual or small operation with regular output; the quota and three-account limit may constrain broader publishing needs.

Pro costs 20.00 USD per month, billed $20/mo yearly, with $29 shown and a stated saving of $104/yr. It includes 100 videos per month, 10 connected accounts, channel automation and a priority rendering queue. It is the more appropriate tier for a higher-volume operation, but remains capped at 100 videos.

Agency costs 55.00 USD per month, billed $55/mo yearly, with $79 shown and a stated saving of $284/yr. Its 300-video monthly quota, unlimited accounts, five workspaces, white-label deliverables and included API make it the clearest fit for agencies managing multiple client workflows. Paid pricing is also presented as starting at $9/mo, so the displayed yearly rates should not be confused with a monthly billing option.

Platforms

ClipEmber is available on the web and through an API. Social connections cover TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels. The service is headquartered in Ukraine.

Who it's for

ClipEmber suits podcasters, coaches and agencies with existing video libraries, especially teams that value transcript edits, reframing and publishing in one workflow. Its API and MCP access make it more relevant to developer-led operations than an editor-only tool. It is a weaker fit for teams that require fully automated TikTok posting or need video volume beyond the plan caps.

Pros and cons

Pros: Clip scores include hook explanations, giving editors a useful basis for prioritizing candidate moments.
Pros: Transcript editing, multilingual word-timed captions, reframing and social connections cover several steps of short-form production in one service.
Pros: REST API support includes completion webhooks, and an MCP server supports several named assistant clients.
Cons: TikTok posting is not fully direct: users must finish from an Inbox notification while Direct Post remains under audit.
Cons: Video quotas range from five per month on Free to 300 on Agency, so heavier publishing needs a higher tier.
Cons: Creator, Pro and Agency rates are shown as yearly billing, which makes the low monthly figures a commitment rather than a stated month-to-month price.

Alternatives

Choose Cliperoni if a permanent free plan with 250 minutes of source content per month, 5 GB storage and one member matters more than ClipEmber’s broader editing and publishing workflow; its free clips carry a short outro. Choppity is another freemium API-and-web option, with a free tier limited to one seat, one hour of AI video analysis, 2GB storage and three-day project storage.

Headliner may suit users who want Android or iOS access as well as web and API, with its Forever Free plan offering unlimited video clips and captioned clips alongside limited audiogram features. OpenClip offers a free trial and a free tier with 10 runs per day, but that tier limits inputs to 200 MB and 10 minutes and puts a watermark on visual outputs.

OpusClip is worth considering for a free tier with 60 monthly credits and clips up to 1080p, though it adds a watermark, lacks editing on that tier and makes clips unexportable after three days. Podcli is the alternative for teams prioritizing a no-watermark, no-minute-cap tool with no subscription and an AGPL-3.0 license.

Vizard offers a free tier with 60 credits per month and one social account, but exports are limited to 720p and 10 minutes with three-day storage. Klap is a paid option with a Basic plan for individuals at 14.00 USD per month billed yearly and 100 clips per month.

Verdict

ClipEmber is a good choice for podcasters, coaches and agencies turning an existing video library into a steady stream of edited social clips, particularly when API or MCP access matters. Its combination of clip scoring, transcript editing, reframing and publishing is the central reason to choose it. Look elsewhere if TikTok must publish without a manual handoff, or if the plan quotas cannot accommodate the required volume.
