Overview

Mixos Mold is a browser-based sculpting tool for artists shaping organic 3D forms. It is best suited to people who want to work across devices and hand sculpts into Mixos Paint for texturing. Its breadth of sculpting tools is a strength, but teams should weigh the export gate and the maker’s one-person scale before building a production workflow around it.

Key features

Sculpting and topology

Mold combines GPU sculpting with pressure-sensitive brushes, subdivision, dynamic topology, masking, symmetry, stamp alphas, brush presets and remeshing. Automatic retopology, multiresolution sculpting and voxel sculpting add useful flexibility for shaping and refining forms. The free plan includes all brushes and subdivision levels, so artists can explore the toolset without a sculpting cap; it does not, however, let them download a finished mesh.

Models, texturing and handoff

OBJ, FBX and GLB import supports bringing existing models into the workflow. Mold can unwrap a sculpt and send it to Mixos Paint for layered PBR texturing, giving users a direct handoff within the Mixos tools. Mesh export to GLB, OBJ or STL is reserved for Pro, Max or a perpetual license. The broader Mixos desktop app’s Live Link streams materials into Blender, Cinema 4D and Unreal, but that is a separate workflow from Mold’s Paint handoff.

Browser workflow and data

Mold runs without installation in a WebGPU-capable browser. Desktop support includes Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Brave, as well as Safari 26 or later. On mobile, it runs in a WebGPU-capable browser on iPad and Android devices and is included in the free Mixos iOS app for iOS 26 or later. Account-saved sculpts can be reopened on other devices after sign-in. Editing runs locally in the browser; projects are stored after account save. The maker says user projects, models, textures, brushes and prompts are not used to train AI models.

For organizations with formal assurance requirements, the security posture is a material constraint: Mixos has no SOC 2, ISO 27001 or equivalent audit, and offers no uptime guarantee. Support is by email, with in-app feedback that includes the app version. The product is made by a one-person operation based in New York, a relevant consideration for teams assessing support continuity.

Pricing

The free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and is billed $0 forever. It includes unlimited Mold sculpting, every brush and subdivision level, 10 trial AI credits and 100 MB of cloud storage. It is a low-friction way to learn the workflow, but mesh export requires a paid plan or perpetual license.

Pro costs 8.99 USD per month, billed monthly. It adds Mold mesh export as GLB, OBJ and STL, 50 AI credits per month, 25 GB of cloud storage and email support. This is the entry point for artists who need deliverable meshes and a modest storage allowance. Max costs 17.99 USD per month, billed monthly, and includes everything in Pro, 150 AI credits per month, 50 GB of storage and priority support. It fits users who need more monthly credits, storage or faster support, rather than a different sculpting toolset.

The perpetual license costs 99.00 USD per once, billed $99 once. It includes 4K watermark-free export forever, mesh export and 20 GB of cloud storage; AI credits are sold separately. It avoids a recurring subscription for export, but offers less storage than either paid monthly tier and no stated monthly AI credit allocation. There is no free trial.

Platforms

Mold supports web, Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android. Its browser-based approach and account-saved projects suit users moving among devices, while the WebGPU requirement and browser version requirements determine whether a given setup can run it.

Who it's for

Mold is a sensible fit for game artists, motion designers, hobbyists and students who want broad sculpting tools, cross-device access and a route into layered PBR texturing. Studios may find the export options and format support useful, but should consider the absence of audited security credentials and an uptime guarantee. It is a poor fit for anyone who needs free mesh downloads or requires formal enterprise assurance.

Pros and cons

Pros: The free tier exposes every brush and subdivision level with unlimited sculpting, making evaluation practical before paying.
Pros: OBJ, FBX and GLB import, plus GLB, OBJ and STL export on eligible plans, cover common model handoffs.
Pros: The Paint handoff supports layered PBR texturing, and account saves allow projects to move across signed-in devices.
Cons: Free users cannot download finished meshes, so the no-cost tier is not a complete production path.
Cons: Cloud storage is capped at 100 MB on Free, 25 GB on Pro and 50 GB on Max; the perpetual license includes 20 GB.
Cons: No SOC 2, ISO 27001 or equivalent audit and no uptime guarantee may rule it out for security- or availability-sensitive teams.

Alternatives

Re:Form is another freemium option with web and macOS support; choose it when that platform combination better matches the intended workflow. tamga is a freemium alternative spanning iOS, Linux, macOS, web and Windows, with free personal, educational and non-profit desktop/web use.

SculptGL is free, with no paid plan or usage limits stated by its maker, making it worth considering when avoiding a paid tier is the priority.

3DCoat has a free plan and free trial, alongside a listed 3DCoat 2026 Individual Node-locked plan at 379.00 EUR per month with 12 months of free updates. Nomad Sculpt is a paid option with a free trial and support for Android, iOS, macOS and Windows.

Shapelab is a paid alternative with a free trial; its Max Standalone plan costs 9.99 USD per month or 49.99 USD per year and targets standalone VR on Meta Quest 3, 3S or Pro, with no desktop mode. Hexagon VISI is another Windows alternative.

Verdict

Choose Mixos Mold if you want a capable browser-based sculpting workflow, broad topology tools, and a direct route to Mixos Paint, and you are willing to pay when mesh export becomes necessary. Look elsewhere if a free export path, formal security assurance or guaranteed uptime is essential; those are the clearest constraints on using Mold in a team pipeline.
