Overview

Cloze is a relationship-centered CRM that brings contact activity and email together, with mobile apps and a browser add-on alongside its web service. It is a strong fit for professionals who manage work through ongoing relationships and for teams that need CRM controls; it is less compelling if you only need a digital card or basic address book.

The free tier provides contact management and an inbox, while paid plans add higher customization limits and team capabilities. The main trade-offs are the cost of scaling business seats and the limits on what the iOS call-and-text sync app captures.

Key features

Relationship activity and contacts

Cloze automatically organizes email, meetings, calls, files, notes, messages, and other contact activity in one place. That approach is useful when follow-up depends on the history of a relationship rather than a static contact record. Reminders help keep next steps visible. Imports from Google Contacts, Exchange Contacts, Office 365 Contacts, iPhone and Android contacts, CSV, Excel, and vCard give teams several ways to bring existing records in.

Email and integrations

Email sync works with Gmail, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 Outlook, iCloud, Microsoft Exchange, Outlook.com, Yahoo!, AOL, and IMAP-enabled services. Open tracking, reply reminders, reusable templates, mail merge, and scheduled sending make Cloze more capable for email-led relationship work than a contact store alone. Connections include Google and Microsoft services, Dropbox, Slack, RingCentral, Zapier, Salesforce, Dynamics, HubSpot, and Mailchimp, offering routes into common productivity and CRM stacks.

Mobile, API, and controls

Cloze has iPhone, iPad, and Android apps, plus a Chrome add-on that brings Cloze to web pages. Its API uses API-key authentication; public integrations require OAuth 2.0, an important distinction for teams building their own connections. Cloze says sensitive information is encrypted so employees cannot see it. It hosts on AWS and cites certifications and audits including PCI DSS Level 1, ISO 27001, FISMA Moderate, HIPAA, and SAS 70 Type II. Business Platinum adds customizable roles, enforced two-step authentication, export controls, and enterprise single sign-on support.

The iOS call-and-text sync app captures call history available on the iPhone and supports SMS, iMessage, and WhatsApp messages, but it does not sync photos or attachments. That constraint matters if your relationship records depend on retaining those materials.

Pricing

Cloze uses a freemium model. The free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes contact management and an email inbox, making it a practical starting point for an individual who can work within a basic feature set. Pro and Business trials run for 14 days and require no credit card details.

Cloze Pro: 17.00 USD per month billed annually, or $19.99 month-to-month. This individual plan supports up to 10 custom segments, 25 custom fields, and 100 custom templates, a reasonable step up for one person who needs tailored organization.
Business Silver: 21.00 USD per month per user billed annually, or $24.99/user month-to-month. It adds team features for small businesses; per-user billing means the total rises with each seat.
Business Gold: 29.00 USD per month per user billed annually, or $34.99/user month-to-month. It includes Silver and raises team limits to 20 custom segments, 50 custom fields, and 500 custom templates.
Business Platinum: 42.00 USD per month per user billed annually, or $49.99/user month-to-month. It includes Gold, user archiving, up to 100 custom segments, 250 custom fields, and 2,500 custom templates, plus enterprise controls. It suits teams that need those controls and larger customization capacity, but it is a substantial per-seat commitment.
Concierge Service: 20.00 USD per month per user, with a $500/mo minimum, as an add-on to any plan. Priority email support, training, a customer success manager, and help with imports, campaigns, integrations, and configuration make it relevant for organizations that need implementation assistance; the minimum makes it unsuitable for low-seat budgets.

Annual billing lowers each paid plan's stated monthly rate compared with month-to-month billing, but commits the buyer to annual billing. Choose by seat count and the customization or controls your team needs, rather than assuming the higher tiers are necessary.

Platforms

Cloze supports Android, iOS, macOS, Windows, and web, with a Chrome extension and API. This range gives teams options across desktop and mobile workflows, though the iOS call-and-text sync caveat remains relevant for people expecting attachments to follow conversations.

Who it's for

Cloze is best suited to people whose work depends on sustained contact relationships and who want email activity, reminders, and contact history organized together. Small businesses can move to per-user plans for team features, while larger or more controlled deployments have Platinum's roles, authentication, export, and sign-on controls. It is not open source, so teams requiring an open-source CRM should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pro: Automatic organization of multiple kinds of contact activity makes it useful for relationship follow-up beyond email alone.
Pro: Broad email-provider support and tools such as mail merge and scheduled sending suit email-heavy workflows.
Pro: Business Platinum combines extensive customization limits with enterprise controls for teams that need them.
Con: Business pricing is per user, so costs scale with team size, and month-to-month rates are higher than annual-billing rates.
Con: iOS call-and-text sync does not capture photos or attachments, leaving some conversation context outside the synced record.
Con: The free plan is limited to contact management and an inbox, so users needing the paid plans' customization or team capabilities must upgrade.

Alternatives

For a digital-card-focused option, ConnectMachine has a free plan with up to four cards, three physical card scans, CSV contact export, and Apple and Google Wallet integration. ContactsPlus is a better fit when a contact manager with a defined free sync allowance is the priority: its free plan supports one synced account and 1,000 contacts, with daily sync and web, iOS, and Android apps. Haystack is worth considering for personal digital cards, with unlimited digital cards, shares, and AI card scans on its Personal plan.

OfficeClip Contact Manager offers a free Standard Edition with no user or time limit, unlimited upgrades, and unlimited file uploads, making it an alternative for buyers prioritizing those terms. Popl is another alternative. BizConnect suits card-scanning needs, with a free plan allowing up to 50 cards per day and a $9.99 monthly plan for unlimited scans and one licence. Cardhop is an alternative for users on iOS and macOS. Ceboa offers a free business listing with contact information, description, logo, and website link.

Verdict

Choose Cloze if relationship history, email follow-up, and contact organization belong in one workflow, and select a business tier only when its team limits or controls justify the per-user cost. Look elsewhere if you need open-source software, a lower-cost team CRM, or iOS syncing that retains message attachments.
