Overview

CMiC is a construction ERP that brings accounting, project controls, field work, workflow and analytics into one platform. It is best suited to general and specialty contractors, heavy/highway firms and project owners that need to coordinate financial and project operations. Its breadth is a strength, but custom pricing and an API request limit call for careful fit checks.

Key features

Financial and project operations

CMiC Financials covers construction accounting, project controls, equipment and inventory, opportunity management, payroll and human capital management. Project Management adds drawings and construction documents, prequalification, procurement, quality and safety, alongside RFI and submittal management, scheduling, field reporting and bid management. That range makes CMiC more compelling for organizations coordinating project delivery and company finances than for teams looking only for a basic accounting or scheduling tool.

Shared data and integrations

CMiC centers its financials, projects, resources and content assets on a single database. A shared foundation can help teams work across those areas without treating each as a separate system. The platform also lists integrations with Bluebeam, Kofax, DocuSign, Microsoft Integration Package, Power BI and ImageTrust. Its APIs expose enterprise business logic through endpoints for interaction with other applications, though a global API request record limit introduced with Patch 22 is an important consideration for integrations with substantial request volume.

Security and support

CMiC states that it maintains SOC 2 compliance and aligns with ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 42001. It provides a 24-hour support line and a technical support portal, useful for organizations that need access to support outside standard business hours.

Pricing

CMiC is paid software with custom pricing. Its CMiC plan is positioned for general contractors, subcontractors and heavy highway firms, but no price is provided; organizations should request a quote for their scope and deployment needs. There is no lower-cost tier or trial described to compare against, so buyers should assess the full package before committing.

Platforms

CMiC supports web, API, Android, iOS and self-hosted use. Deployment options include on-premise, private-cloud Platform-as-a-Service and multi-tenant cloud Software-as-a-Service, giving organizations a choice between running it within their own environment and using cloud deployments. Mobile products span smartphones, tablets and desktops, including Construct APR, Construct CHK, Construct CT, Construct ESS, Construct OM, Construct PM and Construct PR. Construct ESS is available for iOS and Android.

Who it's for

CMiC is a strong fit for construction organizations that want financial and project functions connected in an ERP, especially general and specialty contractors, heavy/highway firms and project owners. Its broad functional coverage and multiple deployment choices may suit complex operations. Smaller teams seeking only one function, or buyers that need a published price before evaluating a product, may find its scope and custom-pricing model less suitable.

Pros and cons

Pros: Construction accounting, project controls, payroll, project management and field workflows sit within one ERP, supporting coordination across office and project work.
Pros: On-premise, private-cloud and multi-tenant cloud deployments give organizations meaningful infrastructure choices.
Pros: APIs and named integrations support connections to other applications, while mobile apps extend the product to field and desktop users.
Cons: Custom pricing makes costs harder to assess before engaging with CMiC.
Cons: The global API request record limit introduced with Patch 22 may constrain integration designs that depend on high request volumes.
Cons: Its extensive ERP scope may be more than a team needs if it is shopping for a single-purpose construction tool.
