Overview

Physical cards and e-gift codes use a shared balance, with partial redemption and reloads across channels. Loyalty points, visits, and spend tiers can share an account with card balances, a practical advantage for merchants who want repeat-purchase rewards alongside stored value rather than as a separate program.

Factor4 covers customer-facing sales, staff workflows, and developer access. Merchants can sell through a branded storefront, issue cards in bulk, use a browser-based terminal, or build against RewardOS. That range should suit businesses coordinating several channels or locations; a small merchant needing only a basic card program may not need the full set.

Key features

Customer experience and campaigns

The merchant-branded mobile app supports balance checks, transaction history, reloads, and loyalty progress, as well as Apple Wallet and Google Wallet passes. The hosted storefront sells gift cards and can schedule e-gift delivery by email or SMS. Campaign tools cover bonus value, discounts, BOGO offers, seasonal promotions, and behavioral triggers, giving merchants several ways to shape offers without separating campaigns from the stored-value program.

Operations and developer access

Bulk issuance supports CSV uploads with per-card values and activation dates, or digital delivery to a recipient list. Staff can issue or redeem cards from a computer using the Virtual Terminal, without POS hardware. RewardOS groups its API endpoints into Setup, Campaign, Transaction, and Reporting, while the integration directory spans 197 connections across POS systems, terminals, gateways, processors, shopping carts, and other technologies, including Clover, Toast, Shopify, and Micros Simphony. That combination is useful for businesses fitting the program into an existing stack, though the right integration should be confirmed against the quote.

Gift card reporting includes card-level balances, activity dates, and dormancy reporting for merchant records and advisors. Support is available seven days a week: Monday–Thursday 6:30am–8:00pm EST, Friday 6:30am–7:00pm EST, Saturday 8:30am–2:30pm EST, and Sunday 10:00am–3:00pm EST.

Pricing

Custom gift card program

Factor4 uses paid, custom pricing based on location count, channel mix, and integration. The company describes a low monthly program fee with unlimited transactions, but publishes no price; businesses should request a quote and compare the monthly cost with the channels and connections they actually need. There is no stated free plan or trial to evaluate before committing.

The custom program includes both physical and digital card formats, both sales channels, POS integration, multi-location support, and gift card reporting. The lack of a published price makes cost comparison harder, while unlimited transactions may suit merchants whose transaction volume would make per-transaction pricing less predictable.

Platforms

Factor4 supports Android, iOS, web, and API access. Its combination of mobile apps, browser-based tools, hosted storefront, and API gives customer, staff, and developer workflows several entry points.

Who it's for

Factor4 describes programs for restaurants, retailers, salons, spas, golf courses, wineries, hotels, franchises, and convenience stores. Multi-location support and shared balances make it a credible fit for businesses selling across sites and channels, especially when loyalty and promotions belong in the same program. A single-location merchant with a narrow gift-card need should weigh that breadth against custom pricing.

Pros and cons

Pros

Shared card balances and loyalty: physical and digital cards can be redeemed or reloaded across channels, while points, visits, and spend tiers can share the same account.
Broad operational coverage: storefront, bulk issuance, Virtual Terminal, mobile app, and RewardOS cover customer, staff, and developer needs.
Existing-stack reach: the directory lists 197 integrations, including major POS and commerce platforms such as Clover, Toast, Shopify, and Micros Simphony.
Unlimited transactions: the described monthly-fee model avoids a stated transaction cap, which can help higher-volume programs.

Cons

Custom pricing: costs depend on locations, channels, and integrations, so a buyer cannot compare the program on a published price alone.
Potentially more than a small merchant needs: the platform’s multi-channel and multi-location breadth may be unnecessary for a simple, single-site card program.

Alternatives

For restaurant-focused options, browse Restaurant Gift Card Software. Choose Lunchbox instead if a free option for 1–2 locations is the priority. Hang is another paid option for teams comparing platforms across Android, API, iOS, and web.

Loopz Gift Cards is worth considering for a Clover merchant seeking a published entry price: its Lite plan is 8.00 USD per month, with a 2% transaction fee on gift card activation and a $0.10 fee per gift card delivered by SMS. eCard Systems offers an optional digital gift card storefront alongside an in-store program, making it an alternative for merchants focused on that pairing.

Giftpro may suit venues that prefer commission-based pricing with no fixed monthly, setup, design, or support fees. GoTab is a broader restaurant option whose Basic plan costs 15.00 USD per month per location and includes QR and online ordering, preauthorized tabs, one POS, and flexible hardware options; choose it when those ordering and tab tools matter more than Factor4’s card-and-loyalty combination.

Wrapped has a published Basic plan at 49.00 USD per month, with up to 3 sites and 50 new gift card activations per month or 600 per year, making it a clearer fit for buyers who value explicit site and activation limits. Paytronix is another paid platform with quote-based pricing for businesses comparing custom programs.

Verdict

Factor4 is a strong choice for multi-location merchants that want gift cards, loyalty, campaigns, and staff and developer tools tied to one stored-value program. Its shared balances, broad integrations, and unlimited-transaction pricing model are the main reasons to shortlist it. Look elsewhere if a published price or a simpler single-location program matters more than that breadth.
