Overview

Frontdesk Self-Guided Tours coordinates apartment visits with prospect verification, time-limited entry credentials, and post-tour follow-up. It is best suited to housing operators seeking a connected self-guided tour workflow across multiple communities. The main reason to consider it is the combination of access control and property-system connections; the key trade-off is that the priced plan carries monthly usage limits.

Key features

Operators can configure tour windows by community and offer visits for one unit or several. Before access is issued, prospects can submit identification for OCR validation, match a selfie, and complete pre-screening. That verification step suits properties seeking more control over entry, though it adds friction before a prospect can tour.

Verified prospects receive smart-lock codes or mobile credentials by SMS or app, restricted to the tour window. Voice instructions serve as a backup if SMS delivery fails. Supported lock integrations include PointCentral, Latch, Schlage, Yale, and ButterflyMX. Scheduling syncs with Google Calendar, Outlook, and PMS calendars, while named PMS and CRM connections include Yardi, RealPage, Entrata, AppFolio, Buildium, ResMan, Knock CRM, Rent Manager, MRI Software, DoorLoop, TenantCloud, RentVine, and Funnel CRM. This breadth is useful for operators with established property systems, although fit depends on the particular systems and workflows in use.

During a tour, prospects can ask questions by SMS and get assistance. Afterward, the service supports feedback surveys, application nudges, and capture of reasons a prospect does not proceed. Those steps make the scheduling workflow relevant beyond simply granting entry, particularly for teams that want to follow up after visits.

Frontdesk says stored data is encrypted with AES-256 and data in transit with TLS 1.2+. It also says customer call recordings and transcripts are not used to train shared AI models. Support is available at support@myaifrontdesk.com.

Pricing

Frontdesk uses a freemium pricing model, but it has no free plan. Business-in-a-Box costs 99.00 USD per month billed monthly, or $79/mo billed annually. It includes 200 voice minutes, 100 chatbot conversations, 400 SMS, and 1,000 monthly overage credits. Those allowances give teams a defined starting point, but operators should compare expected activity with the monthly quotas before committing, especially if tours generate substantial prospect messaging or calls.

A 7-day free trial is offered for Business-in-a-Box with no credit card required. That is a short evaluation window for checking workflows and system fit. Partner / Enterprise has custom pricing, custom volume pricing, API access and custom integrations, plus white-glove onboarding; it is the more relevant option for larger or integration-heavy deployments that need tailored scale rather than the standard plan's fixed allowances.

Platforms

Frontdesk supports web, Android, iOS, and API access. That combination accommodates browser-based administration and mobile access, while API availability is relevant to teams planning connected workflows.

Who it's for

The product targets multifamily operators, including lease-up and stabilized properties, as well as BTR and SFR portfolios, student housing, senior living, and affordable or LIHTC communities. It is a stronger fit where self-guided visits, controlled entry, and follow-up need to work together across communities. A team looking only for basic appointment scheduling may not need its verification and access workflow.

Pros and cons

Pros: Community-specific tour windows, identity checks, and credentials limited to the visit combine scheduling with controlled access.
Pros: Named smart-lock, calendar, PMS, and CRM integrations can fit operators already relying on established property systems.
Pros: SMS assistance, feedback surveys, application nudges, and lost-reason capture extend the workflow beyond the tour itself.
Cons: Business-in-a-Box caps voice minutes, chatbot conversations, SMS, and overage credits, so usage must be managed against plan allowances.
Cons: There is no free plan, and the 7-day trial leaves a brief period to assess operational fit.

Alternatives

For a broader set of options, see Rental Property Showing Software. Consider Tour24 if a multifamily owner or operator wants a custom deployment and is prepared to request a demo for pricing. Choose LetHub if an AI voice agent add-on for $49.00 USD per month, pay as you go with no contracts, is the priority; its listed scope includes answering calls, qualifying renters, and booking showings 24/7.

Rently Smart Leasing may suit operators preferring listing-based purchasing: its Basic Leasing plan is $28.00 USD per listing credit, with monthly pay-per-listing or annual credits for flexible seasonal use. Showdigs is an option for teams seeking workforce and scheduling automation, ILS syndication, and an on-demand agent network, at $1.20 USD per unit per month with a $120 monthly minimum and unlimited user licenses.

ShowMojo offers unit-based annual plans, starting with Pro at $1.30 USD per unit per year for listed unit tiers from 50 to 1,000+. Tenant Turner likewise uses unit-based annual pricing, with Pro starting at $1.17 USD per unit per year for listed tiers from 50 to 1,000+. Consider Latch Viewing Management if a free tier is important: Basic is free forever and includes 3 leases, 20 documents, 5 standard reports per month, and 1 user. RentalProPlus Rental Showing Scheduler is another free option for landlords.

Verdict

Frontdesk Self-Guided Tours is best for housing operators who want self-guided visits, prospect verification, time-bounded smart-lock access, and follow-up tied into property systems. Its connected workflow is the clearest reason to choose it; its usage quotas and lack of a free plan are the reasons to look elsewhere if volume is uncertain or a simpler, free scheduling option will do.
